Introduction:

Great Scott! Our favorite time traveling partners from the mid 80's return to us for some more temporal high jinks in Episode 3: Citizen Brown. This series is made by the creators of the "Sam and Max" games, Telltale Games, it will come to us in 5 different episodes each released a month apart from each other. This guide/walkthrough covers the third episode. The first thing I would like to mention is that I would highly suggest not using a walkthrough to play for the first time through, as it is much more fun to play through the game and figure things out on your own. If you are mindful of what the missable trophies are and when and how to get them, you can easily play through this game and get 100% in one playthrough without following a walkthrough. However, I realize that there are some of you who want to get through it as fast as possible, or simply be absolutely sure they don't miss anything, so for these people a walkthrough is provided under "Final Solution" (G).

If you plan on playing this without the walkthrough, take note of the missable trophies to make sure you can get 100% in this game in one fell swoop. Before entering Hill Valley, be sure to use the tire iron on the gate to grab a missable demerit, for the "One Bad Apple" (B) trophy. Once you are in town, you can instantly go and get "Hill Valley Tourist" (B), the remaining missable demerits for "One Bad Apple" (B), and "Ruin it for Everyone" (B). Once the spray can is available in the back alley, be sure to pick it up and use it on the "Wall" before painting the plank, for the "Marty and the Pinheads" (B) trophy. Before freeing Einstein from the cage in the basement, be sure to get the final missable trophy, "Hidden Treasure" (B). As long as you take note of these trophies, you can play without the walkthrough and still get 100%, but the walkthrough is there in case it is need.

A few notes about how the walkthrough is set up, which is the same as the walkthrough for Part 1 and 2:

  • Dialog (_____): __________ This denotes a conversation taking place in the game. The first blank inside the brackets shows who you are talking to, and the second blank shows which conversational option you should choose to unlock a trophy/progress in the game. If the second blank shows "Any" you are welcome to choose whichever choice you like, the outcome will be the same.
  • Trophy: _________ Unlocked! This shows at what points each trophy should unlock during the story line.
  • Walk ___________ This is to tell you where you need to take Marty to in order to obtain a trophy/progress through the game. Remember that you can hold :circle: to make Marty run. The directions I provide when referring to the town square are in the form of cardinal directions (north, east, south, west) and they are all taken from the center of town square. This means that the courthouse is on the east side, the police station is on the west, etc. Remember whenever I give a direction like east or west it is referring to east or west from the center of town. Directions like right or left refer to directions from the point where you are standing.
  • Interact with ________ To interact with something you simply need to highlight it and press :cross: When "Interact with _________ (With ______ equipped)." is shown, that means you need to equip that item before interacting with the specified object.
  • :square: Use Item __________ to equip. Pressing :square: opens up your inventory. Now you need to scroll over to the item specified in the blank spot and click :cross: to "Use Item", or more simply put, equip it.
  • :circle: To exit. This is simple. Whenever this is shown in the walkthrough it means that we are done with this conversation or location. Pressing :circle: will exit the conversation or leave the area so that you can continue.

Step 1: Play Through The Game.

The first thing I recommend you do is simply play through the game. Whether you are using the walkthrough or not, this will earn you a fair percentage of the trophies. Be sure to watch out for the missable ones: "Hill Valley Tourist" (B), "One Bad Apple" (B), "Marty and the Pinheads" (B), "Hidden Treasure" (B), "Ruin it for Everyone" (B). As long as you know what to look out for you can get these trophies even without following a step-by-step walkthrough. See them in the trophy guide to find out when, where, and how to unlock them. If you aren't using the walkthrough and you get stuck, pressing :triangle: will open up a hint menu, then you can press :cross: to reveal more hints. The hint level can be increased from the options menu to make them even more blatant about what you should do. This has no effect on the game, or the trophies, so feel free to abuse the hints as much as you like. If you watched out for and achieved all of the missable trophies, then once you finish this step you should have 100% of the trophies. If you missed something move on to step 2.

Step 2 (Optional): Clean Up Playthrough

If you happened to miss a trophy here or there, now is the time to start a new game and track it down. Upon completing this step, you will now have 100% of the trophies.

Listen to all tourist audio guides in Hill Valley.

*Missable* There are 7 audio tourist guides spread across Hill Valley. To find them simply head to the center of the town square, near the recycling bins and follow these steps:

[spoiler=1]

Interact with "Self Tour". (1/7)

Walk left, to the other side of the statue.

Interact with "Self Tour". (2/7)

Walk left, passed the Citizen Plus Table.

Interact with "Self Tour". (3/7)

Walk left, towards the soup building, then left again passed all of the tables.

Interact with "Self Tour". (4/7)

Walk back passed the soup building, and cross the crosswalks to the north side of town.

Walk to the right, in front of E. Brown Industries.

Interact with "Self Tour". (5/7)

Walk to the courthouse, on the east side of town.

Interact with "Self Tour". (6/7)

Walk right, passed Officer Parker.

Collect every demerit in the game.

*Missable* There are 7 demerits in this game. You unlock them by doing "bad" things throughout town. 3 of them are story related (PDA, Contraband, and Dog Owning). The others are:

  • Messing with the city gate. Interact with the Gate outside of Hill Valley with the Tire Iron equipped. This must be done before entering the city via the DeLorean's Wheel. (Huge thanks to WeakerYouth for finding this one.)
  • Loitering: Interact with the Guard Shack near the Courthouse.
  • Misuse of the Squawk Box: Interact with the Squawk Box in the center of town a few times.
  • Messing With The Statue: Interact with the statue a few times. (Not while George and Lorraine are arguing.)

Refer to "Final Solution" (G) for the trophy walkthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/840/09.jpg Marty and the Pinheads (B)

Use the spray can to paint Marty's band name in the alley.

*Missable* Once you see Einstein go into the back alley, you will be able to pick up one of Jennifer's spray paint cans, by interacting with the "Ammo Box". Once you have it picked up, press :square: to open up the menu, then equip it. With it equipped, interact with the "Wall", and Marty will paint his band's name on the wall.

Refer to "Final Solution" (G) for the trophy walkthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/840/10.jpg Hidden Treasure (B)

Examine every container of contraband in the speakeasy.

*Missable* When in the basement of the speakeasy, BEFORE freeing Einstein, you need to examine all of the contraband around the room. The things that must be examined:

  • License Plates
  • Video Game
  • Beer
  • Novelties
  • Cigars
  • Pinball Parts
  • Porn
  • Skateboards
  • Records
  • BB Guns
  • Candy (This one may or may not be needed. I got the trophy without it, but others have said they didn't get the trophy until they interacted with it.)

If you try to release Einstein before examining these items, you will not be able to get this unless you reload a save file.

Refer to "Final Solution" (G) for the trophy walkthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/840/11.jpg Ruin it for Everyone (B)

Coax Edna out of the courthouse with the buzzer.

*Missable* As soon as you get into Hill Valley, you are able to walk over to the courthouse and use the buzzer to ask to see Doc. Buzz in 3 times and this trophy will unlock. This can be done at your leisure, but be sure to do it at least before following Biff down the Decycling Chute.

Use the DeLorean parts to enter Hill Valley.

Story Related. This will unlock after using the battery and DeLorean wheel to make a makeshift hovercraft to get into Hill Valley.

[spoiler=2]You will start by finding your self stuck in the DeLorean, which is jammed through a Billboard. You need to interact with your horn to get the girl on the ground's attention. Ask her to help you and she will show you a tire iron. Trade her Kid Tannen's Flask for it. No you will be on the ground, locked out of town. Interact with the Wheel, using the tire iron to break it off of the DeLorean. Pick up the battery near the wreckage and use it on the wheel. Once this has been done, your trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/840/03.jpg Intervention (S)

Got caught with Lorraine's booze.

Story Related. This will unlock after picking up Lorraine's dropped Flask and walking near Officer Parker.

[spoiler=3]To get this you must first learn about all of the demerits from Biff. Once he has told you about all of the things you can get in trouble for, you need to talk to Lorraine to get the keys to the electric car, which you can then take back to your house. Talk with your father and he will tell you that he thinks your mother is drinking again. Go back to town square and ask your mother about the flask. Her and your father will begin arguing via the security cameras. Interact with the statue twice to block your father's view. Now go talk to your mother again and she will drop the flask. You now need to pick it up, then walk over to the courthouse and interact with Officer Parker. This will earn you some demerits, and your trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/840/04.jpg Seven Minutes in Heaven (S)

Got caught making out with Jennifer.

Story Related. This will unlock after beating Leech in a guitar duel and getting busted for PDA.

[spoiler=4]After Biff has told you about all the demerits, you need to find a way to get the PDA infraction. Start by taking the electric car to your house. In the garage, interact with "Marty's Guitar". Tell your father that you need it to impress Jennifer. Now head back to town square, and over to the soup shop. Knock on the window and see Leech and Jennifer making out. Walk in to the back alley and interact with Jennifer. Select the following dialog path:

"You and the SoupMo guy?"

"Guitar? I play guitar!"

"I can outplay Leech any day!"

This will initiate a guitar battle between you and Leech. This scene can play out a variety of different ways. It sometimes gives you different options, and sometimes Marty and Leech move differently, meaning you must react differently. Your goal here is to get Leech to stand on top of the plank above the dumpster, then hop. Do whichever moves are needed to get Leech into position.

Once Leech has fallen in the dumpster, Jennifer will be all over you. Watch the scene play out and you will earn more demerits, and a trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/840/05.jpg All Good Dogs Go To Utah (S)

Got caught with Einstein.

Story Related. This will unlock after chasing down Einstein and giving him a hotdog sample to earn his trust.

[spoiler=5]Once you have learned about all of the illegal things in Hill Valley from Biff, you need to find a way to get a dog. Go over to the soup shop and read the sign that says "Free Samples". Open the window and ask for some free samples. Now try and walk into the back alley and you should see Einstein hop over the plank into the back of the area. Walk over to the plank and climb over. Examine the fridge, and Einstein will escape. Now pick up the spray can near Jennifer, and use it on the plank. Leave the back alley and then enter again. Walk back over to the newly painted plank and climb over. Now you should see footprints showing where Einstein is hiding. Interact with the table to discover Einstein. Give him your hotdog sample to earn his trust, then let the scene play out. This will result in you getting demerits, and a new trophy.

Refer to "Final Solution" (G) for the trophy walkthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/840/06.jpg Into the Garbage Chute, McFly-boy (S)

Jumped into the Decycling Bin.

Story Related. This will unlock after you follow Biff down the Decycling Bin.

[spoiler=6] After you discover that Biff is the one who mugged your father, go confront him about it in town square. Follow all paths of the conversation until you get the option to say "Let me see your watch.". Press Mode, then change the settings to say X:11, then press Mode again. Now choose the options:

"Where's my dad's tape?"

"Could you go get my dad's tape?"

Biff will dive down the Decycling Bin. Once you follow him down, your trophy will unlock. Beware, this is the point of no return. If you want to explore the town more, do it before following Biff.

Ok, as of now, the walkthrough is not 100%. I am missing 1 demerit somewhere for the bad apple trophy. If anyone knows of which demerit i missed, please let me know.

I have found the demerits for PDA, Booze, Dogs, Loitering, abusing the squawk box, and vandalizing the statue. Who knows what is missing?

EDIT: I have given up searching for tonight, as it is 3:30 am. I will continue looking tomorrow, and I will also add a roadmap and more detail tot he trophies, I just wanted to get the walkthrough up tonight.

EDIT: All Demerits accounted for. Walkthrough now yeilds 100%

I've gotten the Statue Demerit twice. I don't know if that means anything since it's added to the pile. I don't know if you can get it anymore than that, either.

EDIT: 3 times, 4 times, etc. Seems like it's infinite.

I picked that one up 10+ times and tried again, but it didnt seem to help. In the walkthrough I have people get that one at least until the dialog starts repeating (2 or 3). *sigh* oh well. I'll search again in the morning.
