Overview

  • Total Playtime: 40-80 hours
  • Offline Trophies: 7 (B), 17 (S), 4 (G), 1 (P)
  • Online Trophies: None
  • DLC Trophies: None
  • Difficulty Affects Trophies: N/A, no difficulty settings
  • Missable Trophies: 2+ : Festival, The Drunkard's Legend Continues are both missable. Technically all of the endings are missable, but Mimi's (involving As a Noble and The Two Strongest Adventurers) is the only one to include missable events (that I know of..).
  • Difficulty: 5/10
  • Minimum Number of Playthroughs: 1 (there is a New Game+ if you take more than 1 playthrough)
  • Guide Status: 2nd draft in progress

Notes about this Guide

  • Dates in this guide are expressed in the format AyBmCd, meaning year A, month B, day C.
  • Entries in character event lists starting with a number in parenthesis indicates the required relationship level needed with that character to trigger the event. For example, an event for a character that says "(35) Event at Totori's atelier" means the event will not happen until the character has 35 relationship with Totori (besides, of course, being in Totori's atelier in this case).
  • Translations in this guide are unofficial and probably won't match exactly with the official NA release of the game.

Roadmap

While there are a lot of endings in Atelier Totori, it's quite possible to get all endings on one playthrough, by replaying the last few months of the game each time.

Step 0: Prologue

The game starts at 1y3m1d, and gives you until 1y6m1d to get used to exploring and synthing. Just play through and have fun.

This phase will get you Ordinary Scenery, Super-human Big Sis, Like a Flash and Arguing with a Lady.

(If you sleep continuously through this period you can get Bad Ending, though you'll have to restart afterwards).

Step 1: Raise Adventure Rank & Initial character events

For the first 3 years of real game time (1y6m to 4y6m) you have to earn a Diamond adventurer's rank. This requires a total of 920 adventurer's points, which is achievable in about half the allotted time if you don't slack off, so you have plenty of wiggle room.

While out adventuring, try to split your time between the other 6 characters you can recruit. Traveling with an ally will increase their relationship by 1 point for every 3 days on the world map. This increase caps out at 60 relationship, which is enough to get all character events. Characters Totori already knows start out with a fair bit of relationship already, so everyone should hit 60 pretty quickly.

Ideally you want all 6 characters to hit 60 relationship and stay there. This means in general, you do not want to do friend quests (the sole exception may be Sterk, who starts at 0 relationship and isn't recruitable until 3y1m). Definitely do not do friend quests for anyone who has hit 60 relationship (until the very end of the game, see 'Character Ends' below). Relationship will never decrease, even if you turn down friend quests.

Check out each of the character ending guides below to see how to progress their story. Especially for Mimi and Sterk as they have missable events.

Step 2: License renewal

Assuming you've hit rank Diamond by 4y6m1d, you'll get a license renewal for 2 more years (ending 6y6m1d). You have until then to finish the game.

Step 3: Construction

Starting at 4y1m the main story will progress to the point you will need to craft several items which take a very long time. You can in theory finish all but one of them before license renewal (above), but you still have plenty of time after.

Step 4: Finish Main Story (Normal End)

Once construction of the assigned items are done, you can finish the main story up to Sad Reunion, which qualifies you for Normal End. At this point you should progress all character/ending events up to (but not including) the 'No Return' points on their routes. Once you reach this point, save your game somewhere safe, and sleep until the game is over to get Normal End.

Step 4b: Festival

While you're doing Step 4, around 5y6m there will be a festival in Aranya. See Festival for details, and make sure not to miss it! Afterward, do the events for Still a Child and The Drunkard's Legend Continues, as they are the only other series of events that don't come automatically while getting the endings.

Step 5: Store End

Reload your game save from step 4 and finish the events necessary to qualify you for the Store End. Save here, and sleep until the end of the game for The Alchemical Restaurant.

Step 6: Chim End

Reload your game from Step 5 and finish events necessary for Chim's End, The Ultimate Workforce. Again, save your game, and sleep until the deadline to get this ending.

Step 7: Character Ends

You now have 6 more endings to get! You can now go and activate multiple character flags, but make sure not to activate all 6 at once (since that will get you the True Ending).

Reload your game from Step 6. Now you want to

  1. Activate any 4 character flags
  2. Save your game
  3. Do one (1) friend quest for a character to bump them past 60 relationship (even a C-rank item will net you 3 relationship, which is fine).
  4. Sleep until deadline to get that character's ending.
  5. Reload save from (2) and repeat for other characters.
  6. Activate a 5th character flag, do a friend quest for them, sleep to get their ending.
  7. Reload save from (2) and activate the one character flag you still haven't got (so you have all character flags except the one from (6)), save your game, sleep to get their ending.

Step 8: True End

Once you've got all the individual character endings, reload your most recent save (which should have 5 out of 6 character flags), re-activate the last one (i.e. the one from part (6) in Step 7), and sleep to get True Ending. And you're done! If you didn't get Bad End before, start a New Game+ (do NOT skip the prologue), do the initial events, and sleep until the prologue ends.

Helpful tips:

  • You can fulfill requests and sell items directly from your container. You can also have bought items shipped directly to your container. Character events that require an item need that item to be in your bag first, though.
  • Stores restock on days ending in 1 or 2 (i.e. 1, 2, 11, 12, 21, and 22). Use this to your advantage when you need to buy large amounts of items (like feeding Chim's pie habit).
  • Adventure points you've earned carry over across levels. So even if you're ready to rank up, you can still earn more points without fear of losing them.
  • Hold down the 'confirm' button when selecting items in your bag/container (or at gathering points) to select multiple items. You can also hold confirm and tap left from the first item to wrap around to the last, which selects all items.
  • Both money and all equipped equipment (weapon/armor/accessory) for Totori and all her allies (including DLC characters) carry over in a New Game+. If you do decide to do multiple playthroughs make sure to equip everyone with top-tier equipment before ending the game the first time (as well as selling everything in your container). You'll be one-shotting monsters for quite a while in your second playthrough!

Helpful events:

  • Once Mark has reached relationship 30 or higher, go to the square in Aranya without Mark in your party. He will appear and ask for a couple items. When you deliver them to him, he will speed up Peter's carriage (1 trip takes 8 days rather than 14)
  • Once you reach Silver rank or higher, go to Tiffani's shop with your bag at least 3/4 full. Go to her to buy something, then exit the menu, and she'll give you a bag with 100 capacity.
  • Once you've finished the requirements for Normal End, go the wharf in Aranya, again without Mark in your party. Again he'll ask for a couple items; give them to him and he'll speed up your other mode of travel.

Helpful items:

  • The Secret Bag allows you to access your container from anywhere. This is much more seamless than in 'Atelier Rorona', and very useful.
  • Speed Gloves reduces time taken to gather materials from a gathering point, from 50% of a day down to 30% of a day. Requires Gold rank.
  • Traveler's shoes reduces travel time by foot on world map by ~30%. Requires a 'Soul of the World', first obtainable from treasure chest in 'Forgotten Village', (NW of Arland), once you hit Platinum rank.
  • A Travel Gate allows you to warp to either atelier instantly, as long as you're outside of a town (if you're in a town, exit to the world map and use it from there). Requires a 'Lapis Lazuli Wing', first obtainable in a treasure chest in Hermit's House (E of Arland), after your license renewal.

These all have either a passive (always-on) effect or infinite uses, so make sure to synth one of each as soon as they become available.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/642/19.jpgノーマルエンド: ノーマルエンディングを見た。

Normal End: Saw the normal ending (S)

To get a normal end (or better) you basically must advance the story sufficiently before the end of the game.

In order to get the 'basic' normal ending that will trigger this trophy, you also have to make sure you don't trigger any other endings, as they will all override this one. Under each of the other endings, take note of the section marked 'No Return' - once you hit that you will unavoidably get that flag which will lock you out of 'lower-ranked' endings. See the 'Holding Flag' point in each for advice on how to keep from getting the flag (until you want to get it, i.e. after reloading).

Vague, non-spoilerish steps to getting a Normal End:

  • Reach Diamond rank by 4y6m1d
  • If you've triggered enough story events, starting 4y1m you'll have to craft a series of items.
  • Venture out and find out what happened to Totori's mother before 6y6m1d.

If you've received (G) "Sad Reunion", then you've satisfied the requirements for this ending.

Less vague, but slightly spoilerish steps (contains names of characters/places):

[spoiler=normal_end_steps_pt_1]

  • Starting 3y1m there will be an event in the square in Aranya about 'Flauschtrout'
  • There will be another event starting 3y7m, also in the square in Aranya, about Totori's mother.
  • Talk to Gino, Ceci, Pamela, and Melvia.
  • Talk to Cordelia and (optionally?) Sterk.
  • Starting 4y1m, talk to Cordelia at the guild or in Rorona's atelier.
  • (Don't forget to reach Diamond rank by 4y6m!)
  • There will be a series of events the next time you return to Aranya.
  • Craft all the items Totori's father asks you for.
  • In your new craft, head east to Altomeia. Assuming you want Mimi's flag on this playthrough, make sure she is in your party when you leave. There will be a boss fight at this point.
  • Keep heading east (at each gathering location, cross it to the other exit to open up further locations). When the path branches, you can take either route (they both end up at the same destination).
  • Eventually you'll hit the 'Farthest Village'. There will be a series of events.
  • Exit the town and head back to Aranya (use your Travel Gate or you'll waste a month heading back!)
  • There will be a few more scenes around Totori's Atelier.

The above is the bare minimum to get (S) "Normal End". However, there's more to the story, which you will need for some character endings (and thus also for the True Ending):

Extra:

[spoiler=normal_end_steps_pt_2]

  • Head to the Farthest Village for a second time, for some more events.
  • Return back to Aranya (please use your Travel Gate!).
  • Talk to Rorona in her Atelier.
  • Talk to Pamela back in Aranya.
  • Head to the Farthest Village a third time. Continue past it to the large tower. This will net you (S) "It was a Plush".
  • Defeat Ebilface in his tower. (There will now be more boss monsters you can fight whenever you like in the tower where Ebilface was, but they aren't story- or trophy-related. If you do go, make sure you're well equipped!)
  • Return to Aranya for another event or two.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/642/20.jpgバッドエンド: バッドエンディングを見た。

Bad end: Saw the Bad Ending (B)

There are three ways to get a Bad Ending:

  1. After the initial required events, sleep until 1y5m15d or so.
  2. Fail to reach Diamond rank by 4y6m1d.
  3. Fail to find out what happened to Totori's mother by 6y6m1d.

The easiest way is the first. Start a new game (if you start a New Game+, make sure to NOT skip the prologue), do the first few events, then sleep for a few months.

To get the true ending, you must in one playthrough

  • Satisfy (S) "Normal End" conditions
  • Satisfy all 6 character ending conditions
  • Trigger the Chim Ending conditions
  • Trigger the Store Ending conditions

See the individual ending guides below for details.

The Drunkard's Legend Continues: Get molested by a drunk Tiffani (S)

This trophy is missable. To obtain it you generally have to fulfill front quests for Filly (at the Adventurer's Guild in Arland). Here, 'fulfill' means 'turn in to' - a quest counts as long as you deliver it to Filly, regardless of where you pick it up.

More details:

[spoiler=drunk_steps]

  • There will be an event at the Adventurer's Guild after you've completed 40 quests for Filly
  • There will be an event at Tiffani's shop after you've completed about 50 requests for Filly.
  • Starting the next day, there's another event at Tiffani's shop.
  • After completing 70 requests for Filly, there will be another event at Tiffani's shop. For this occur, you must have no outstanding quests - either complete them or cancel them.
  • Important Exactly 2 days after the above event, you must go to Iksel's cafe, otherwise you'll miss this event! You'll get the trophy at this point.
  • Starting the next day, you can talk to Tiffani and Filly for more fun dialogue.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/642/12.jpg フェスティバル : 水着コンテストを無事開催した。

Festival: Safely held the swimsuit contest (G)

This trophy is missable. There will be an event at Totori's atelier starting 5y6m1d. You now have 2 months to get everything set up for the festival. If you have 60 relationship with all your companions (as you likely do) and a Travel Gate, this will be very easy.

Careful! It is possible to screw this up if you are at a certain point near the end of the main story:

[spoiler=screwing_up_the_festival]

If you are at the point in the main story where Pamela is traveling with you, she will not be accessible, as Peter needs to be in town for the event when she returns. If you are heading back into town after working on the end of the story, make sure to head directly to her shop on your return, before triggering the initial event for the festival.

Requirements for the festival:

[spoiler=setting_up_the_festival]

  • You need to recruit 7 other girls for the festival, besides Totori.
  • Ceci, Pamela, and Filly will join you once you ask them.
  • Melvia, Mimi, and Rorona will all join if their relationship is high enough (60).
  • Cordelia will only join if you've already recruited Rorona.
  • You can ask Tiffani to trigger an event, but she won't join.
  • You must be at Totori's atelier exactly 2 months after the initial event (e.g. if you triggered it on 5y6m1d, the festival happens on 5y8m1d). If you are not there, you won't get the trophy (though you will get a funny event with Peter...)
  • It does not matter trophy- or story-wise who wins the festival, so cheer for whoever you like. There will be a different event afterward depending on who won.

Still a Child: Get hugged by Ceci (S)

To get this event, you must first fulfill the requirements for (S) Normal End. After that:

[spoiler=pianya_events]

  • There will be a couple events with Ceci and Pianya around Totori's Atelier/dining room, a few days apart.
  • There will be 2 more events in Totori's Atelier with Rorona and Pianya. Rorona must not be in your party. You'll get this trophy after the second of these.
  • There are more Pianya events, but they aren't trophy-related.

Recruiting Gino: Gino is initially recruitable.

Getting Gino's Ending Flag:

[spoiler=gino_end_flag]

  • (40) Starting 2y1m1d, Gino level 10+, go adventuring
  • After returning, you get a recipe. Synth the item in it, put it in your bag, and hand it to Gino.
  • (45) Ater you've met Sterk, but without him in your party, talk to Gino (or go adventuring with him)
  • Starting 7 days later, event in Village square
  • A few days later, event at Totori's atelier
  • A few days after the first event in the Village Square, there will be a second event in the square
  • A week after the above event, there will be an event at the wharf
  • (50) Starting 3y1m, after above events, Gino level 15+, event at Totori's atelier
  • After above, go to Village square in Aranya, or head to Arland.
  • After above, talk to Gino
  • [No Return] Starting 4y1m, with Gino level 25+, event at Totori's atelier
  • 7 days later, another event at Totori's atelier
  • After 7 more days, another event at Totori's atelier
  • [Holding Flag] Kick Gino out of your party before he hits level 25.

Getting Melvia's Ending Flag:

[spoiler=melvia_end_flag]

  • Event about Ceci while entering a location on the world map
  • (50) Another event while entering a location on the world map
  • (60) Starting 4y6m, talk to Melvia.
  • Talk to Ceci and invite her out.
  • At least 30 days later, talk to Ceci a second time and invite her out again (2 days pass).
  • [No Return] At least 30 days later, talk to Ceci a third time and invite her out again (10 days pass). This involves a bit of a tough fight (3x Scarlet) if Totori is low-level. Level 30+ should(?) be fine. Bring AOE attack items and healing items with the 'Living' series of traits (so they will auto-trigger if Totori gets low on HP).
  • Defeat Ebilface by Farthest Village (can be done before or after above events). Melvia does not have to be in your party when you do this.
  • [Holding Flag] Don't invite Ceci out the third time.

Getting Rorona's Ending Flag:

[spoiler=rorona_end_flag]

  • (40) Starting 3y1m, visit Sunrise Cafe. May require Sterk relationship 30+, and may also require the initial cooking event with Iksel to have taken place.
  • (50) Starting 3y7m, go to Main Street in Arland.
  • (60) 6 months later, event with Rorona in Rorona's atelier. The scene is different depending on which is higher: Totori's alchemy level or adventurer level. Either one is fine for Rorona's ending.
This event must be done before the end of 4y.
  • [No Return] Reach alchemist level 50, synth something in Rorona's atelier.
  • [Holding Flag] When you get close to Alchemy level 50, do all your synthesis in Totori's atelier. You can use a Travel Gate to go between Arland/Aranya without costing you any time.

Recruiting Mimi:

[spoiler=recruiting_mimi]

  • There will be an event after you return to Aranya for the first time, starting at 1y7m1d
  • There will be a second event in the square in Aranya starting at 1y7m4d. At this point Mimi should be recruitable, in Aranya.
  • 30 days after reaching rank Iron, there will be an event at either atelier, and Mimi will be now recruitable from the Arland Adventurer's Guild.

Getting Mimi's End Flag:

[spoiler=mimi_end_flag]

  • (10) With Mimi in your party, return to Aranya village with bag 80% full (you can fill your bag with water from the well or stuff from your container, walk 1 day out, then return)
  • (15) 15 days later, event at Totori's atelier.
  • (20) 15 days later, Mimi in party, event when returning to Aranya.
  • (25) 15 days later, Mimi in party, another event when returning to Aranya.
  • (30) 15 days later, event at Totori's atelier.
  • (35) Once Mimi has returned to Arland, talk to Cordelia.
  • (35) Talk to Mimi, or go adventuring with her in your party.
  • (45) Once you've done at least 25 requests total for Filly, talk to her about Mimi.
  • (50) 15 days later, event when entering guild (may not trigger until at least 2y6m).
  • Missable! Starting one day after above, get a rank up at Adventurer's guild (if you are already the highest rank, you are toast! If you are a high rank, it may take a while to reach the next one...).
  • 3 days later, synth something or rest at Rorona's Atelier.
  • 15 days later, talk to Cordelia.
  • Missable? (60) Go adventuring with Mimi before the boat is completed.
  • Missable? Have Mimi in your party when you first(?) depart in the boat.
  • Missable? Fight Flauschtrout with Mimi in your party.
  • Event after reaching frontier village for the first time, with Mimi in party.
  • Talk to Mimi at adventurer's guild.
  • Defeat Ebilface (by Frontier Village). I don't think it matters if Mimi is in your party at this point or not.
  • [No Return] Get Mimi and Totori both to adventurer level 50. If an event doesn't trigger at this point, have a 3rd character in your party that hasn't hit level 50 yet. Go fight battles until that 3rd character levels up. That should trigger it for sure.
  • [Holding Flag] Kick Mimi out of your party before she hits level 50.

Recruiting Mark:

[spoiler=recruiting_mark]

  • Starting 1y6m, go to Buried Ruins ('埋もれた遺跡') (S of Arland, E of Aranya)
  • Once you are at least rank Iron, go to Despair Pass ('絶望峠') (SE of Arland, E of Aranya). You don't have to open the chest if you don't want to.
  • Return to Arland.

Getting Mark's End Flag:

[spoiler=mark_end_flag]

  • Once Mark is recruitable, talk to Cordelia.
  • Starting next day, event at either atelier.
  • (30) Starting 2y1m or so, there will be an event at the Weapon Shop.
  • 15 days later, event at Sunrise cafe.
  • (40) 30 days later, go to Main Street in Arland.
  • (45) 30 days later, go to Main Street in Arland again.
  • (50) 30 days later, go to Main Street in Arland yet again.
  • (60) 30 days later, starting 4y1m, event at Rorona's atelier (Mark may need to be at least level 30).
  • [No Return] With Mark in party, go to Promised Site ('約束の遺跡') (NW of Arland). 13 days pass afterward and you'll be back at Arland. This involves a boss fight, but shouldn't be too difficult if you're all above level 30.
  • 2 days later, event at Rorona's atelier.
  • [Holding Flag] Don't go the Promised Site with Mark in your party.

Surrounded by Women: See Sterk's Ending (S)

Recruiting Sterk (some of these may be optional, but you'll likely get them all anyway):

[spoiler=recruting_sterk]

  • Starting 2y1m, if you are rank Iron or higher, event at Totori's atelier.
  • A second event the next day, also at Totori's atelier.
  • Talk to Cordelia.
  • Event in either atelier.
  • Another event in either atelier (may require you to complete a friend quest for Sterk?).
  • Event when going to either Field of Boiling Sand ('熱砂吹く原野') or Scorching Wasteland ('灼熱の荒野'). Both of these are E of Arland.
  • Starting 2y9m, event when returning to Aranya.
  • Starting 3y1m, event at Rorona's atelier.

Getting Sterk's End flag:

[spoiler=sterk_end_flag]

  • (30) Event in either Totori or Rorona's atelier
  • (30) Go to main street in Arland
  • (40) Go to main street in Arland again
  • (60) With Sterk in your party, go to any gathering area. Sterk temporarily leaves party.
  • Sterk is unavailable for about 6 days, then there will be an event at either atelier, and he'll be available again.
  • Complete the sake (beer/drink) events for Gerard, choosing Sterk to accompany you for the last bit.
  • [No Return] Also get Gino's end flag
  • [Holding Flag] Don't get Gino's end flag.

The Ultimate Workforce: Saw Chim's Ending. (S)

Recruiting Chim: See (B) "Population Explosion"

Getting Chim's End Flag:

[spoiler=chim_end_flag]

  • Must satisfy (S) Normal End conditions
  • Must not trigger any character end flags (they will override this ending, and you'll get one of those endings instead!)
  • Must have five (5) Chims by the end of the game. You get one to start, you'll need 4 Waters of Life to get the rest:
    • You can buy one Water of Life from Pamela's shop.
    • You get one Water of Life for hitting Cobalt Rank.
    • You get one during an event at Rorona's atelier if Sterk has hit relationship 50 or higher (starting 3y1m).
    • You get one for winning Iksel's cooking contest.

[*]At least one Chim must eat 9 'big' pies' worth of pies (every 10 small pies turns into one big pie).

[*]You can buy homemade pies from Ceci at the bar in Aranya for 70 cole each. This is much more efficient than making them yourself.

[*][No Return] Your Chims must have eaten 35 large pies total (i.e. 350+ small pies)

[*][Hold Flag] Stop all Chims from working before you hit 35 large pies (if they aren't working they won't eat any pies)

The Alchemical Restaurant: See the ending where Totori opens a Food-and-Drink Shop (G)

(a.k.a. the 'Rich End', or 'Store End')

Getting the Store End:

  • Satisfy Normal Ending conditions
  • Must not trigger any character end flags, or the Chim End flag, as they will all override this one.
  • Must complete all of Iksel's cooking events
  • Must complete all of Gerard's beer/drink events
  • Must have 500,000 cole by the end of the game
  • [Holding Flag] Stay under 500k cole, or don't finish the last drink event ('nushi')

Iskel's cooking events:

[spoiler=cooking_events]

  • Once you've got Chim (end of 2y), talk to Iksel in his cafe for some recipes.
  • Synth a Black Tea and Passion Soup, put them in your bag, and hand them to Iskel. You'll get more recipes.
  • Synth a Danish and Meister Tart, put them in your bag, and hand them to Iskel. You'll get another recipe.
  • Synth a 'Century Biscuit' of quality 60+, put it in your bag, and hand it to Iskel. Returning to your atelier will net you another recipe.
  • Synth a 'Totori-style brunch' for another event.
  • You'll now need to hand over a 'Totori-style brunch' to Iksel as part of a contest. If it is quality 80+, you'll win some items, including a Water of Life (needed for Chim Ending, so if you're going for all endings in one playthrough you must win). If the one you've synthed so far isn't high enough keep synthing until you get it - you only get one chance! You won't be able to buy anything from the cafe until the contest is over, though.
  • If you need help creating the 80+ brunch, use the following (credit to Cetra):
    • A fresh sardine from Gerard's bar
    • Use the (one) high-quality 'Some Egg' you can buy from Iksel's cafe (though you must have bought it beforehand), or go gathering at Seaside Hill
    • Get the best Uni you can

Gerard's beer recipe events:

[spoiler=beer_events]

  • Once you've recruited Rorona, talk to Gerard at the bar.
  • Talk to Rorona back at her atelier for a recipe book. (Talk to Tiffani for an optional event as well, if you like)
  • Once you've synthed the three items in the recipes above, you'll get another set of three items to synth.
  • Synth those three items, put them in your bag, and take them to Gerard.
  • You'll get one more recipe here, synth that and hand it to Gerard.
  • This will get you recipes for three more items, though they require ingredients you won't be able to obtain until you get a boat, after 4y1m
  • Synth those three items and hand them to Gerard.
  • 30 days later, if you've fulfilled the (S) Normal End requirements, talk to Gerard. You'll get a final recipe, which requires part of a 'nushi' fish.
  • Talk to Guido (Totori's father) at the wharf for a fishing rod.
  • Talk to Sterk for assistance.
  • A fishing point will appear on the map. It is not easy to spot - it's just NE of Rock Island ('岩石島').
  • You'll need bait - make sure you have a 'Sonne Fruit' (looks like an orange) in your bag.
  • You have to be at the fishing spot at the end of a month (i.e. 30d). If you arrive early you have the option to wait until the end of the month. Note that events that take place while voyaging can use up days so you might want to leave a day or two early.
  • Once back home, synth the drink and hand it to Gerard.
  • There's a final event at the bar the next day.

Making Money:

[spoiler=making_money]

Spring Cups

  • One of Sterk's events (in Rorona's Atelier, relationship 50 required), will net you a 'Darkness Dew'. You can also get them from the Night Region (N of Arland), but it won't be accessible until your license is renewed.
  • Use that to synth a Spring Cup with the 'Spring Liquid+' ability.
  • Wait until it refills to hit 100 quality and register it in Pamela's shop. If you like you can re-buy and re-register it a few more times (I registered it 4 times so that each re-stock day you can buy up to 40 if you want..).
  • After Pamela restocks, buy copies of them, put them in your bag, and take everything else out of the bag.
  • Then go to the world map (so there's no usage animation) and use your Spring Cups.
  • The following are generally worth 100+ cole each, assuming you've found at least one in your travels: Darkness Dew, Sea Puddle, Forest Drops. Keep these, and toss Milk/Water (not worth it..)
  • About 7 Spring Cups will be enough to fill a 100-capacity bag, and will net you 11-13k cole.

Getting Spring Cup Recipe:

  • Rorona will give you recipes after she becomes recruitable. The first couple seem kind of random; try synthing items at Rorona's atelier. The second recipe book contains recipes for pies.
  • Synth a pie at Totori's atelier. Ceci will give you a recipe book.
  • Try synthing all items in that set of recipes, and Rorona will eventually give you a recipe book while sything at Rorona's atelier.
  • Again, synth the items in that book, and while synthing at Rorona's atelier, she will give you another recipe book. This book includes the recipe for making Spring Cups.

Alchemy Yeast

  • Synth an alchemy yeast with 'Expensive'-related traits, and let your Chims duplicate them. Even a 'new' Chim will only take 2 days to produce a copy, and experienced Chims will take only 1 day.
  • A good quality Alchemy Yeast will sell for 150-200 cole, so your Chims can be making you good money while you're out adventuring or synthing.
  • Just make sure to have plenty of pies stocked up, and plenty of container space available to store them!
  • Note: Make sure to stop using this technique before your Chims eat 35 big pies or you'll lock yourself out of the Store Ending!

Grass Element

If you reach Galaxy rank (the highest), you can fight Grass Element in the Moonlit Forest (NE of Arland). It's a difficult fight, but earns you 5k cole for beating it each time, plus about 1k cole worth of drops. (I found the Spring Cup method to be faster time-wise, though that method is also more boring)

wow, I'm looking for this game when it releases on America, maybe this guide could work with the NA version, right? Thx a lot!

btw, you need a save from the first game for this one? Or there is any trophie that become a pain in the a$$ if you don't have a save from the first game?

This guide should work just fine for the NA version. The only 'trick' is that NISA will likely translate location names differently. I'll try to go back and update names with the official English ones once the game is released.

There's no save import from Atelier Rorona - you start out in the same position regardless of whether or not you played the prior game. (And all trophies are story/event-based - there are no collection trophies this time! - so I didn't find any of the trophies difficult)

There are a lot of returning characters from Atelier Rorona, and quite a few references/in-jokes to the events that happened there, so it's recommended to have played it. The main story can be fully enjoyed even if it's your first Atelier game, though.

Wow, this guide has the same points as listed in the Totori official guidebook.

This guide came just in time since I was thinking to start over Totori's platinum project

Really? Guess I know now where the wiki got their info from. :) I was thinking of getting the guidebook for the artwork, but never actually did.

Thanks for this guide, I want to play this game but I haven't played Atelier Rorona, is there any problem?

Since I'm a noob with this game can you please explain me what is that of 1y6m1d (That stands for 1 year 6 months 1 day I suppose...) and another dates that you mark in your guide? So this game has a timer and you need to play it in an specific ammount of time? Or you can play 40 real hours in the same day (grinding or training) and the next day only comes when you go to an inn or after you trigger an story mission/quest?

Thank you in advance =)

You won't be missing out on items or anything. There are some references/in-jokes in this game to Atelier Rorona, as well as some running jokes (barrels, Pamela) that are common to all Atelier games. I'd say about 90% or so of the story is 'new', though.

(Side note to future readers: The next game in the series, Atelier Meruru, has a lot of references to the first two games in the trilogy. I'd recommend at least playing Atelier Totori here first, before Meruru)

If you haven't played any Atelier game before, it might feel a bit strange/overwhelming at first, but the game gives you 3 months as a tutorial to play around with before the 'real' game begins.

Yes, the 'y-m-d' format stands for year-month-day. As you play the game, there will be a HUD in the top-left of the screen that tells you what the current 'day' is, among other things. In total you have 5 years (12 months x 30 days each), plus the 3 months of prologue. The main game starts at 1y6m1d, with time progressing to 1y12m30d, then wrapping around to 2y1m1d, and so on. The game ends at 5y6m1d.

Game-time is not related to real-life time in any way - you 'spend' fixed amounts of time by doing certain actions.

  • Walking around town, talking to characters, etc. are 'free'. Most events also take 0 game time, though there are a couple that advance time by a day or so.
  • Synthesizing (crafting) items takes time - different amounts for each item (the game tells you how long each takes). For example, the basic 'Neutralizing Agent' takes 0.2 days to create, so synthing 1-5 of them takes up 1 day, 6-10 takes up 2 days, etc (it always rounds up to the nearest day). More advanced items can take several days to create.
  • Traveling on the world map takes time. In this game, it will probably take up the majority of your time spent, as the world map gets very big! There are items you can create later in the game to help shave time spent in this way (listed at the top of the guide).
  • The world map is populated by many gathering points (where you fight battles, gather ingredients/treasure, etc.). Fighting and gathering stuff here takes up time as well - harvesting from a gathering point takes 50% of a day at the beginning of the game, battles usually take 20% of a day. This means that there is almost no 'grinding' in the game - you'll naturally progress and probably hit level cap near the end of the game anyway.
  • You can sleep on the couch in an atelier to pass time and recover HP/MP (or you could use healing items if you don't want to spend game time). If you get everything you want done early (which you probably will), this is the fastest way to spend the rest of the game time you have left.

Don't sweat the time element too much, you have plenty of time to accomplish your goals even if you spend a lot of time messing around. For those that have played Atelier Rorona, this game is much more lenient time-wise.

If you can't get all endings the first time through, money and equipment carry over into New Game+ which will go much faster as you'll be used to everything (and have overpowered characters! :p). You can also use the opportunity to play the game through with each voice track, assuming NISA is providing dual audio.

Thx a lot! Very good info =). Just to know, If I mess with something you say that I can play a new game +, the enemies on NG+ are scaled to your level or they have low level like the first time? And how much time it will take to pass the game again with a NG+?

Thank you!

Enemies stay the same in each play through, even in NG+ (it's not Demon's Souls! :p). Note that your level is reset on NG+, but a level 1 character with top-tier equipment is probably about as good as a level 20 or so character with starting equipment, so battles will still go quite fast for you.

I'd estimate that doing all endings in one playthrough would take about 50-60 hours at a 'normal' pace. If you split your endings across 2 playthroughs, then the first may be 40-50 hours and the second 25-30, depending on if you skim through event scenes, etc. Depending on your play style, your mileage will vary :)

A couple of questions. Of all the ATelier games I've only played Atelier Rorona, but I've heard that all of them have different gameplay mechanics.

Can you tell me if this one is any different from Rorona game? And if it is, then what's the difference.

What ending of Rorona is considered canon?

And does Gio the King make an appearence? He was my favourite character from the first game :D

From now on, in an attempt to reduce(?) confusion and typing, I'll refer to the games by their project numbers, so:

  • Atelier Rorona = A11
  • Atelier Totori = A12
  • Atelier Meruru = A13

This is because these characters not only appear in more than one game, but so do their ateliers, and "Atelier X" (the game) is annoyingly close to "X's atelier" (the place).

A couple of questions. Of all the ATelier games I've only played Atelier Rorona, but I've heard that all of them have different gameplay mechanics.

Can you tell me if this one is any different from Rorona game? And if it is, then what's the difference.

tl;dr : A12 is basically an upgraded version of A11, gameplay-wise, with some features added and a lot of annoying bits fixed.

Here's a (not so) shortlist of what's new gameplay-wise (no story spoilers!) in A12:

Overall

  • The game itself is much more stable than A11 - I think A12 froze once or twice in 80 hours, while A11 froze up every 5-10 hours or so for me. A13 hasn't glitched on me yet, so they're getting better!
  • Overall graphics look nicer, and in my opinion the music is even better in A12. :) The same Victorian/Celtic mixture aesthetic remains the same.
  • The game overall feels more story-driven - in A11 you were basically Errand Girl. In this one you can actually go carve out your own path in the world.
  • The kingdom assessment stuff is all gone. It has been replaced with an achievement-based system that rewards you with 'adventurer points' for completing each one (some also give Totori stat boosts). You only need to complete about a third of them to hit Diamond rank (the bare minimum to get all the endings), so there's much less time pressure.
  • The above point means character endings are much easier to get. Which in turn means it's easier to get all endings in a single playthrough if you want.
  • If you take multiple playthroughs, though, New Game+ now carries over all equipped items, as well as money.
  • New stat: MP (magic points) Synthesizing and skills in battle use up MP rather than HP.
  • Town map is gone, instead you can pull up a list of locations in town to fast travel to (much faster).

Adventuring/Travel

  • A12 is much more adventure focused. While A11 always had you head out to gathering point X, then return home, in A12 you can travel from point to point on the world map directly. And you will be traveling a lot. This is where most of the extra 2 years (of 5 total) in this game are spent.
  • You can save on the world map!
  • New stat: LP (license points) - These are used as you travel on the world map, or perform actions in battle. They're healed when you return home, or eat [Cooking] items. If your LP gets low your characters suffer a debuff in battle. It's generally not a problem, aside from a couple (optional) end-game bosses that have skills that drain your LP.
  • Entering a gathering area used to take a fixed amount of days - now it depends on how much you do inside the area (harvesting takes 50% of a day to start, and I believe battles take 20% or 30% most of the time), always rounded up to a full day. This is tracked in your HUD for you.
  • While A11 had a dozen or so distinct areas/dungeons with a bunch of sub-areas that more or less looked the same, in A12 they're all at the top level (~70 areas in total). The first few look a little similar, but overall they are much more diverse and dynamic than in A11. Some even involve some platforming to reach all the harvest points (it's "safe" platforming, though - you can't fall to your death or anything).
  • Many of the areas are more open/less linear than A11, and some are big enough you'll wish you had a mini-map. :)
  • It does not cost any money to take people adventuring with you (put Sterk & Rorona together in your party for a funny scene about this :p).

Battle

  • Battle mechanics are mostly the same - you get Totori plus two support members. Battles are turn-based. Alchemists can use items. Skills and Assists are still there. The majority of enemies will be familiar to you, but there are also many new ones added.
  • You can now see the order of everyone's upcoming turn in a HUD.
  • Support characters now get 1 'free' assist charge at the start of each battle.
  • Of the support characters, only Mimi will trigger Assist Attacks when Totori attacks. Other members can trigger Assist Attacks when Totori tosses an item. All members still trigger defensive assists.
  • The elemental gauge is gone. Each support member has their own 'special' gauge which fills as they perform actions. When it fills they can use their ultimate technique (if they're level 25+, I think...). All their other skills are always available, assuming they're a high enough level. Unfortunately, all this means Totori doesn't have an ultimate technique.
  • One of the support members has a basic attack with an AOE :)

Requests

  • Front quests are still in the game. They are more optional than in A11. It's a good idea to do some (at least 10 every adventurer level) for the adventurer points, and Filly's optional event requires you to have done a bunch, but that's it.
  • Friend quests have changed - now your support characters will randomly come to your Atelier every 15 days you spend there, and ask for an item. In general you can completely ignore them until end-game when you need to get each character's relationship a bump in turn to get their endings. There are no NPC friend quests.
  • Deadlines on requests are more lenient than in A11; requests that require you to travel far (e.g. to defeat enemies on the far side of the map) generally have no deadline.

Item Crafting/Inventory

  • The crafting system will still be fairly recognizable to you from A11. Most items and recipes are the same; a few have changed a bit (ingots and cloths only take 1 day now!). There are a number of new recipes, mostly fish-related (since Totori lives in a fishing village, after all...). There is still a well outside your atelier for free water.
  • The biggest change is in traits - in A11 the five 'most dominant' traits got applied to the resulting item. Now you get to choose which ones to keep! The resulting item gets a set number of 'points' depending on what ingredients you use, and you spend those points to pick which of the traits you want to stick.
  • Items still have traits and quality, but now also have a 'rank' (S is the best, followed by A, B, C, D, E) based on those factors to tell you generally how good it is at a glance.
  • Hom is not present in A12, instead you get (up to 5) 'Chim' mini-homunculuses (homunculi?). Instead of gathering/synthing, they will dupe any ingredient or synthed item you have in your possession (it does not use up the item, or any ingredients, but you need one to show them to get them started). This means you can create 1 or 2 top-tier ingots with awesome traits, and then get the rest for 'free' (well, it takes time, of course...).
  • Registering/wholesaling items is still in the game, unlocked 'for free' at some point in the story.
  • Overall inventory management is much better in A12. Selecting multiple items is much easier/faster. Your container is accessible anywhere in town, even for satisfying requests. If you have the 'secret bag', it's accessible anywhere in the world, except in the heat of battle.
  • Accessing your container is a bit more annoying now, though - when you open it you pick what to 'filter' by, then you see all applicable items in a small box on the right hand of the screen. It was apparently not well received, as they switched back to A11's style in A13 (where each item category is a tab, and each item type is then selectable in a list).

I'm sure I'm missing some, but those are all I can think of at the moment.

For the rest, you'll just have to play the game and find out :)

What ending of Rorona is considered canon?

Astrid's ending is considered canon (which basically includes all the character events), with one slight 'modification' (spoiler for those who haven't played A11 yet):

[spoiler=after_astrid_ending]

After Astrid returns to Arland at the end of A11, she leaves again, taking Hom with her. She has left Arland for a while by the time the story starts in A12.

Also, all the optional NPC events that occur when you get their relationship high enough (e.g. Tiffani, Hagel), are considered canon as well.

And does Gio the King make an appearence? He was my favourite character from the first game :D

Sadly, he is referred to, but does not make an appearance in A12. However, do not lose heart! He (along with 'Mask de G') is a major character in A13. Edited by Satoshi42

Great guide! Thanks! It's been really helpful. I also have a question about Tiffani's trophy. Do you specifically have to turn in all of your jobs to Filly? Or does doing jobs for Gerhard work as well? I'm not quite sure. Also, how can you tell how many you've done?

Thank you for the help! It's great, even for the English version!

Jobs you accept from Gerhard and also turn into him do not count. Jobs that you accept from and turn in to Filly definitely count. I'm not sure about the other cases (accepting a job from Gerhard and turning it into to Filly, or accepting from Filly and turning into Gerhard). At least one of those cases probably count.

I'll try to test this a bit more thoroughly when I go through the English version.

Also, how can you tell how many you've done?

Not directly, but there are achievements when you hit a certain number of jobs completed overall.

Without giving too much away, the relevant events are all related to Filly's work, and it should be obvious when you have to go to the cafe. Just make sure you don't miss the appointment. :)

I see, so I have to focus on doing quests in Arland then... It's odd, I did so many Filly quests yet I still never got a scene at Tiffani's. Maybe it just wasn't enough. Oh well, it'll be easier to pull off in NG+ anyway. I just beat the game tonight with Sterk's end. Ready to get Marc, Gino, Melvia, and Rorona's as well! Thanks a bunch for the help and the guide! :)

This is pretty random, but recently I got an event with Gino where he leaves the party. He eventually comes back and an event pops up. I was level 20 with Totori when this happened and he was level 14. He came after a while and he was level 23. I tried this again after handing in the item for the super move first and after winning a battle. He did not leave this time, even after winning a few battles. I purposely tried it once again and got Totori to level 22. I recruited Gino after and after one battle I got the event again. When he came back he was level 25.

According to the guide, it says the point of no return is 4y1m1d Gino level 25+. It may potentially mess up getting all the endings in one play through. That is if you decide to turn in the the first item into Gino much later.. Although I can't test this, seeing is how I'm not in 4y1m1d+. Just thought I'd leave this as a warning.

I'd also like to contribute! I got Marc to fix up the carriage on my second playthrough without even having put him in the party before. Your guide said he had to be at 30 friendship. I'm wondering now if he doesn't have to be anymore? Just make sure he's not in the party at a certain time in the game and go to the Town Square in Alanya I think.

Nice guide and a quick question (regarding NA version) is the 'Good Flowing Water' ability called Spring Liquid+ in the US version since i notice there was no other name like good flowing water or close to that and there were only two listed under effects and they both got the same name except one has a +.

I'm pretty sure it is yes. When I used it, it seemed to give me quite a profit!
