Introduction

Arkedo Series 01 - Jump! (henceforth known as Jump!) is a fun little retro game developed by Arkedo Studio, and the first game in their series of retro games.

The controls for Jump! are as easy as they can be. You move the main protagonist (who is fittingly called JumpBoy) by pressing :left: and :right: (or using the left stick) and jump by pressing :cross:. Once in a while you'll acquire a knife, which you can throw by pressing :square: and :left: or :right: (depending on which direction you want to throw the knife).

The object of each level is to collect all the bombs that are scattered throughout the level before they go off, and then exit the level using the door that opens after collecting the last bomb, all the while avoiding enemies and traps.

Some bombs are hidden inside pigs (go figure!) that open once you've collected a certain amount of money. The amount of money needed is shown next to each pig.

The bombs have timers on them, and when the timer reaches 0, the bomb will go off and you'll have to start the level again. You are also instantly killed if you touch any enemy or trap or jump into nothingness.

Road Map

Step One - Adventure Mode

Adventure Mode consists of 30 levels, and it must be completed to unlock Challenge Mode. There are no continues or level select, so you have to be pretty careful or you'll run out of lives fast. You have five extra lives to start with and acquire more on the way.

Be advised that Adventure Mode must be completed in one sitting, you can't save the game and continue later. It takes around an hour to complete the game.

During this step you'll get the trophies Airborne (B) and Landed! (S).

Step Two - Challenge Mode

After completing Adventure Mode, Challenge Mode will be unlocked. Challenge mode consists of 31 levels, 30 of which are the same levels you just completed in Adventure Mode, except now you have to collect every coin, diamond and treasure chest in each level for it to count as completed.

Luckily, the Challenge Mode levels can be completed one at a time and in any order, so you don't have to worry about saving up lives.

After the first 30 levels are completed, the final level, the "überhard robot level", will unlock. A word of warning, the level is definitely deserving of that name. You have to dodge incoming homing missiles and erratically flying bats to complete the level.

During this step you'll get the trophies Treasure gatherer (B), Treasure collector (S) and Treasure hunter (G).

Step Three - Clean-up (if needed)

After completing both Adventure Mode and Challenge Mode, you're still probably missing some, if not all, of the hidden trophies. There are four of them: Diehard (S), Jump Master (B), On target (S) and JumpBoy (S). This is the time to start focusing on them, and I suggest going for them in the order I named them. See the individual trophy descriptions for details.

Complete the Adventure Mode.

This trophy is awarded after you complete level 30 of Adventure Mode.

Adventure Mode must be completed in one sitting, and there are no continues or level select, so you have to be pretty careful or you'll run out of lives fast. You have five extra lives to start with and acquire more on the way.

If you don't get to the end at first, don't despair. After playing the game a little more, you'll fly through the earlier levels easily and rack up the extra lives that you're going to need in the latter levels. Also, save your knives for when you really need them. Every level can be completed without them, but they will help a lot on some levels, especially against the skeletons that throw bones.

In my opinion, the hardest level in Adventure Mode is level 29 with the big rolling boulders. The last level isn't that hard, you just have to be pretty quick to dodge the incoming homing missiles. If you stand in one place too long, they're bound to get you.

Refer to the below video (made by berts08) if you're stuck on any level:

Achieve 10 levels of the Challenge Mode.

This trophy is awarded after you have completed any 10 levels of Challenge Mode.

See Treasure hunter for more information about Challenge Mode.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1171/04.jpg Treasure collector (S)

Achieve 20 levels of the Challenge Mode.

This trophy is awarded after you have completed any 20 levels of Challenge Mode.

See Treasure hunter for more information about Challenge Mode.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1171/05.jpg Treasure hunter (G)

Complete the Challenge Mode.

This trophy is awarded after you have completed all 31 levels of Challenge Mode.

The first 30 levels are the same levels that you played through in Adventure Mode, but this time you can play them in any order and try each level as many times as you want. This time around you also have to collect every coin, diamond and treasure chest in the levels, which makes some of them quite a bit harder.

While some coins are in hard to get places, none are really hidden, so as long as you keep your eyes open, you should be able to get them all. The knives are also absent from this mode, so you'll have to do without them.

After completing the first 30 levels, the last level is unlocked, and after completing that, the trophy will be unlocked.

The 31st level is extremely hard compared to the others, and you'll probably die dozens of times trying to figure it out. The first part is all about keeping on the move and dodging the missiles, and that is probably the hardest part of the level. After that you'll have to watch out for the bats when going down to the pit, dodging some more missiles and jumping very carefully into the big pit on the left. You'll need each and every coin, diamond and treasure in the level to unlock the one bomb. After getting it, all you need to do is head to the exit.

See the video under Landed! for reference on the first 30 levels and the video below (made by berts08) for the last Challenge level:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1171/06.jpg JumpBoy (H) (S)

Perform five thousand jumps!

As the description suggests, all you have to do to get this trophy is jump 5000 times. Of course you could knock the trophy out of the way first, and just keep jumping in the first level, but I suggest leaving it for last, as you might get this while going for the other trophies, or if not, you'll be at least pretty close by the time you've done everything else.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1171/07.jpg Jump Master (H) (B)

Perform 200 jumps without dying.

To get this one, you have to jump 200 times without dying. I suggest going for this at the same time as you're gunning for Diehard, but failing that, you can just keep jumping in any level (as long as there are no live bombs around) until the trophy pops.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1171/08.jpg Diehard (H) (S)

Achieve 10 levels without dying.

For this trophy, you have to complete 10 levels in a row in Adventure Mode without dying once. Obviously this is easiest done on the first 10 levels, since they present very little challenge compared to some of the latter levels. If you don't get this at first, at least after a few tries you should be familiar enough with the levels to get this quite easily.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1171/09.jpg On target (H) (S)

Kill 25 foes with the knife.

As stated, you have to kill 25 enemies by throwing knives at them. There are only a few knives in the whole game, so you probably won't get this trophy playing normally, so you'll have to farm a little to get it.

What I did was play through the first nine levels, collecting all the knives (there is one knife in levels 6, 7 and 9 each), using them on enemies and then killing myself in level 9 to get game over. At this point you should be quite familiar with the levels and run through them quite quickly. Don't stop to gather money if you don't need to and avoid extra lives, so you can kill yourself quicker in level 9 and start the farming run again.

A special thanks and all credit for the videos to berts08.
