Cromag2
So my 10 year old decided to create a new user in the XMB, not a problem really, but also decided to delete the old user, AKA = me. Yep, all gone, ME2 saves, 40 hours of ME3, crud TON of MGS saves. So I am almost done weeping and wondering if any of you know the answer to this question: I used to have PS+ (heed Olsons warning kids, better get that cloud storage and saves!), but let it cancel and I know I had quite a few ME2 saves on it, if I sign back up and pay obvioulsy, is it all still there or is my "new" user or new PS+ starting from scratch, I still have all trophs and online progression in all games, anything on PSN I have as I changed the new user back to my sign in and password. I would probably sign back up if there is a chance all those saves are there, right now having a hard time commiting to starting ME3 again with a level 1 but I probably will just because I know there will be DLC I will want to see in the future. This has really cleared out my gaming schedule! hehe
fuzziezra
Thats why I have 2 playstations, one for me and one for the kid. Cause I don't want to have to punch a kid in the head.
simula67
I let my subscription expire for a few days and all of my cloud saves were still there. Don't know how long Sony would have kept them for though. Really sucks about all your saves.

HaoleDave
Hopefully your PS+ has only been away for under 6 months... that way you can get back most of your saves. Otherwise, that just sucks... I don't allow any other account on my PS3. If my father wants to play or my fiancée, they have to play on my account.

Misantropus
I'm not sure if it's possible but, as PS3 HDDs are common 2.5" PCs ones, maybe you could mount it on a computer/laptop and use a software to recover the erased data. Did that 2 years ago, my father's computer got a virus that erased his entire HDD with all family photos (no backup), etc. Problem is, I suppose the PS3 data is probably encrypted/protected in some way, then it would possibly be difficult/impossible to recover it. Could a PS3 backup image be moved to a NTFS external hard drive? - PlayStation 3 Message Board for PlayStation 3 - GameFAQs Ryphis_Demeanor posted... I plugged my HDD into one of those 3 in 1 external/internal adapter hubs. The file system can't be recognized or explored. You cannot move it. The only thing you can do is incase that bad boy in a glass box and when someone completes an emulator in 10 years hope that they have HDD recognition.I have about 15 years worth of PSone and PS2 memory card saves on mine that can never be retrieved until this programmer of the future is complete. Yeah, I am aware that PS3 formatted drives are not explorable. What I have is a backup image (using the PS3 system backup feature) of my old "fat" PS3 on an external hard drive. Currently, that console is YLOD and not usable. However, I plan to have it repaired later and want to keep the data to use later. However, it takes up over 200GB of space on the external drive which was formatted to FAT32 so the PS3 can use it for video and game saving. The other drive is in NTFS format and has plenty of room. So I wanted to move the image there for storage if possible. --- crimsonassassin Your friendly, neighborhood assassin/mod insert witty quote here

Cromag2
I think I could have developed a drug habit if that happened to me. Yeah, its crazy, last night I went outside and played tennis, who knew! One of these days I will start ME3 back up at my rockin level 1 character, at least I had some money on an old PSN card and bought Journey, quite fun actually, hell, makes me wish ALL MP games were annonymous... Moving On
Aw, man, that's terrible to hear. I can only imagine how much time was invested in that and I just know I wouldn't be able to bring myself to play ME2 again and then play ME3 again if it happened to me. That's so frustrating. abe.the.cop
Haha that's exactly what I'm gonna do if my son gets into gaming! My ps3 got ylod and I lost all saves including a ff13 save on like chapter 9 that I had spent a lot of time on. So I sold it to GameStop (the retard didn't even check to see if it worked so I got way more for it than I should have). I then got a used slim from the same GameStop right after selling my fat one (how stupid are they?) and got just as far in ff13 and a bunch of other games including coming very close to plat in castlevania. Then some asshole stole my ps3 and half my games. It took me very recently until I was able to start ff13, so I feel your pain. Bucket
Sorry to hear about the loss, hope you don't kill your son I also lost all my saves and progress after a lightning strike took out my old PS3 last summer. Mass Effect 2 was one of the many games I lost all saves for, but I spent the time after an Insanity run a month ago to finish a "perfect" run of ME2 in preparation for ME3 xD It was worth it... I think.
julesthegr8
When I was playing Final Fantasy XII on the PS2 years back I had just got done grinding XP. And I was about 60% done with the game. I was saving the game when my son who at the time was only 2 yrs old ran across the living room and knocked the PS2 over and corrupted my save. I can understand where youre coming from. It sucks. Only saving grace is ME2 is such an awesome game, I probably wouldnt even be mad I had to do it again.
