Mass Effect 3 to have same-sex romance

Don't know if people have read this, but I've just found out and thought I should share.

Casey Hudson (lead dev. & director) has announced on his twitter that same-sex romance options will be available in Mass Effect 3, for both Male and Female Shepard.

Happy to confirm #ME3 supports wider options for love interests incl. same-sex for m&f chars, reactive to how you interact w/them in-game.

Your thoughts on this?

Personally I think it's great, a wider selection of romance is always welcome in my books.

I don't care for same-sex romance, but good for those who do. Also, it's good to know that Casey has finally found the balls to stand up to those who think that same-sex relationships in games are the work of satan. Here’s hoping that sex scenes will be more like in ME than in ME2.

Upd.:

Actually, scratch that last part - I don’t even need a sex scene. After all if I want to watch two people boning each other I’ll download porn. What I ask for is NO dry humping! Who the hell gets fully dressed immediately after sex just to cuddle?! Give me sex scenes like Garrus’s or Thanes, or Tali’s. Those were great. Very emotional, very touching and no nekkid body parts that horrify old farts so much.

As long as its not man on man im ok.

Haha, what's wrong with a little man on man action?

Man on Man romance is featured in the game, but you don't have to involve yourself in it. Don't you worry your homophobic head. :p

But yes, what Cornagandarub said. It's featured, but nobody's forcing you to play a homosexual male Shepard :D

If its a male alien it is lol Also, Jacob is a human ;)

Still not Gay. Just Bestiality ( Inter-species and all that ) , regardless of sex.

Yeah, with Jacob it would be Gay. And, well if it's true about what they say... You know, about Biotics! :p

I love the hypocrisy some of you are not ashamed to exhibit. Girl on girl action is fine, but man-on-man? Oh no teh horrorz! Yes, you have your preferences, and I 100% respect that, but why show disgust and protest against something that is 100% optional?

Also, homophobia is gay. Seriously.

And by the way, Male Shepard pursuing another male does not make him gay. In the Mass Effect universe, the concept of 'sexuality' is very fluid. It takes place in the future where homophobia becomes obsolete. FemShep was able to pursue other women yet that that does not make her lesbian nor bisexual, just like pursuing a relationship with an alien does not make her xenophilic (in the Sci-Fi sense of the word).

You just made that up, didn't you?

Not to further derail the thread or anything, but its also optional to disagree with homosexuality.....its pretty ironic you come into a thread and confront someones views on homosexuality, by promoting your own views on it and linking everyone to a journal article that tries to justify that being homophobic is gay

I dont agree with homosexuality either....I too think its disgusting, but thats not what this thread is about.....Everyone has their preferences (like you said) and opinions. Just leave it at that.

In my point of view, absolutely.

I'm protesting? Right, sorry its hard to type this with my Pickett Signs in hand. And as you can clearly see, Im standing outside Bioware's front gates shouting hate comments.

Homophobia? Nope, sorry I am not afraid of gay people. Spiders, sea monsters, and dust bunnies? absolutely.

Seriously? A dude pursuing a relationship with another dude is the very definition of homosexuality, whether the video game lore accepts it or not.

Let me just re-iterate, I have no problem with homosexuality being included in this game, because as you have so helpfully pointed out, it is optional. However i do have the right to express my opinion which i did. I think dudes in a romance is nasty, and females in a romance is hot. Thats my opinion and it will likely not change. In no way am I trying to offend people, just stating my thoughts.

Where did I say otherwise? "Optional" is the word which leads me to this point:

its pretty ironic you come into a thread and confront someones views on homosexuality, by promoting your own views on it and linking everyone to a journal article that tries to justify that being homophobic is gay

Heh, again, I'm not "promoting" my own views; I'm merely expressing them. I never said "homosexuality is awesome" or "gays are cool." I'm merely marking upon the irony of saying "girl on girl action is teh hawtness!!1!!1" while expressing disgust at the same exact thing that happened to involve another gender.

It's one thing to oppose homosexuality (I oppose many things but I won't deny a person the right if it's not affecting others). It's a completely different thing to say homosexuality (same-sex attraction, not just male + male) is disgusting or something abhorrent (though, again, in that case I can express my views that such view is disgusting too, but hey, that's how you see it, your opinion which is not my place). That such relationship in ME3 is optional should be enough to avoid it. But to vehemently oppose or DENY people who want a same-sex relationship the OPTION of pursuing one is, in itself, disgusting.

Sexuality in Mass Effect universe is a very blurred concept that, for all intents and purposes, nonexistent. Attraction happens between two individuals, regardless of gender or origin. But clearly this has to be altered to conform to bigots; you know, the ones who call M/M relationships in Mass Effect 3 "political correctness gone mad" yet at the same time saying they're "offended" by these relationships .

But yeah I'm sure my views will be misrepresented somehow.

Read the response above. I was typing when you posted yours but my response to you would be pretty much the same.

Nothing is wrong with it's the best hehe. :D :p

Though yeah David Gaider of Dragon Age said the same thing for his games when they came out. but yup noone is forcing them to play the gay option, though I could if I wanted to, i mean I'm a big guy but I never tied anyone up and forced them to.

My first thought: "Wow, gross."

My second though: "Ew"

My third thought: "Aww yeah, now I have a reason to play a FemShep!" I love me some lezbos.

even if you are being sarcastic that makes you sound like a big jerkbag.

Oh that's too bad then, then you are a jerk and kind of creepy too if you are anything close to the other guys iv seen who said things close to it when talking about real life people, but you don't come off as a sleazoid, so I doubt that part.

Though at least you said sorry i guess.
