Pokémon-Amie is constantly present on the touch screen while the player is in the overworld. Pokémon do not gain experience in the demo.

The player is welcomed by Alexa, and starts in an area with a large fountain in an area of decreased elevation, surrounded by small staircases leading to the fountain. Between the player's starting position and the fountain is tall grass.

That's the best name they can come up with? X and Y? Honestly, i find the pokemon for 5th generation onwards too childish and vibrant. Don't get me wrong, i do love the pokemon series, but it's changing into something which i don't like. I've played through pokemon blue to pokemon platinum, spending countless hours throughout the whole pokemon series. Through that, i set expectations for the next pokemon game to come out and 5th generation disappointed me.

I'm not sure I like the look of this. I prefer the older style of the games at a slight birds eye view.

If they are trying to turn the games into a more standard 3rd person rpg I think it would be better suited on a console.

Still it's early yet and could of course change my opinion when I know more about the game.

Plus I can't believe how quickly they have announced a 6th Gen.

EDIT: Does anybody think the new grass starter looks quite similar to Osawalt (the water starter for the 5th Gen?)

Day 1 purchase including 3DS.

Fanboy jizz all around. Starters looks great, legendaries look beastly (compared to the piss weak legends from last 2 gens). hopefully the new pokes match up to the standard from Gen 1 or 5 (I've given up on the legendaries, though these look REALLY promosing)

I'd have to buy a 3DS too which is annoying.

I bought a DS just so I could play Pokemon but I don't know if I could be bothered forking out all that money just for 1 game.

I usually see it like this, (weird logic ahead).

I know i'll get at least 300 hour of gameplay out of pokemons (a minimum) so let's say I pay 300€ for a 3DS+ the game that means its worth about 1€/hour I play.

Compared to lets say.. God Of War 2. I remember buying it for 70€ (back in the day) and finishing it in 9 hours, with no replays. Which equals 7,7€/hour

Using that (weird) logic its totally worth it.

Either way I work so I don't mind dishing out the money.

I can see your logic behind it.

I bought a DS, a Gameboy Advance and a Gameboy/Gameboy Colour just to play Pokemon in the past which was definitely worth it.

Exactly this.

Seriously, a frog for a starter Pokemon? The newer Pokemon look too much for children these days. Although I'm a Pokemon fan, I will not be buying these. After playing through both Black and White versions, I'm done with this series. I'll go back to playing the previous versions, but highly unlikely that I'll be playing the newer versions.

However, X and Y versions do look pretty cool.

What did he say at end?

He said "Damn it, I have to get a 3DS."

Really have mixed feelings about this though, feels like they're pushing it with 649 Pokemon already and adding even more now :wtf:. I still haven't even completed the Pokedex on any of my previous versions which go back to Gen III so I'm not looking forward to having that task prolonged. Also I'm really hoping it's more than the cookie cutter beat these eight gyms and then the elite four and the champion. I'd prefer a good/evil setup with the trainer having the option to steal pokemon if they so desire.

All the same I suppose I'll end up getting Pokemon Y (because I have a Y chromosome) anyway because I still like the series, however I'm a bit concerned about it becoming redundant.

i don't think pokemon will become redundant this quick. If gen 5 thought us one thing its that they're getting back on track again.

say what you want but gen 5 is easily the second best gen so far (and before you say they have bad pokes take a look at voltorb, magnamite, jynx and others).

gen 1 was best, gen 2-4 where about gameplay improvements, gen 5 was about new pokemon design

I somewhat agree with this. However, a lot of the Pokemon from the 5th generation were just recycled designs with a few minor changes from previous generations.

I think 4th Gen was the worst, 5th was an improvement. But still 1st gen is my favourite, with 2nd and 3rd gen 2nd and 3rd respectively.
