Verrey also claims that since the console can "stream 1080p perfectly", and it's also apparently compatible with media apps such as Netflix and LoveFilm.

Mad Catz is not yet prepared to confirm all the finer Mojo details. It can't give technical specifications but the company has gone on record as saying Mojo "will be the most powerful Android micro console available at launch" and will feature "no less than 16GB internal storage", with microSD expansion supported.

Mojo will launch "this holiday". A price hasn't been confirmed, but as Mad Catz isn't selling games for the system and isn't taking a cut of app purchases, it stands to reason that the price will have to at least be high enough for the company to make a direct profit on hardware sales.

We briefly tested Mojo at a recent press event and tried it out with Riptide GP, one of the more graphically intensive games on Android. The controller performed competently and the on-screen display was impressive.

The official name for the Mojo handset is the 'CTRLR', and it's another gamepad that uses a layout similar to the Xbox 360. Featuring both Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Smart 4.0 technologies, the controller is also compatible with Android phones. The latter Smart mode improves latency considerably, Verrey claimed.

"Bluetooth controllers are generally very laggy with a response rate of up to 100ms. This isn't ideal for core gamers. Bluetooth Smart drastically reduces the lag, polling at around 7ms. That means you'll feel much more like you're using an Xbox 360 controller when you play Mojo."

The pad has three different modes:

- GameSmart mode offers standard controls for Android games that carry gamepad support.

- Mouse mode is used for touch-screen games and lets players use the controller's analogue stick to move an on-screen cursor (a USB mouse can also be plugged into Mojo)

- PC mode, meanwhile, turns it into a standard PC controller for use on your computer.

Many Android-based Bluetooth peripherals can be used to control the micro-console, Verrey said.
