QuantumMercury
I'll vote when I finish my first playthrough but given the bad chapter checkpoints and some difficult parts on Nightmare I am leaning towards 6-7. Once you get a hang of the combat system the game does become a lot easier though.
Cornagandarub
Yeah I'd say a 7. I've been playing for quite awhile now, and while most of the trophies aren't that difficult (especially when a lot of them do revolve around collectibles) but normal has proven to have a couple of minor challenging bits, so I assume Nightmare is quite a bit harder. DrStrangelove
I'd lean towards a 6 or 7, things are not too hard after a few hours of combat, the minigame or Nightmare mode trophies might hinder the occasional player however.
Angofwolf
Gonna say 5. Nightmare may be hard if you start on it, but with New Game+ it isn't really a big deal. Collectables are time consuming, but I managed to find most of them (98%) my first time through. In comparison to some other plats (well for games I play) I would also like to point out that this isn't all that time consuming and I don't really intend on taking more than 40-50 hours (though really I'm expecting less than 40 with how much I have completed in ~25hours). Mecha Buu
I'm curious. Anyone got the platinum yet? I want to know because all I see here are "leaning toward a -/10" posts, and I doubt anyone in this thread got it before they posted. If you're close, don't answer. Faria1st
I haven't gotten the platinum yet, but I'd still say about 6-7 so far. This is purely based on what I've experienced thus far and compared to other games I've played. You don't have to have the plat yet to make an educated guess. You don't, but some people still insist on forcing the imaginary rule of "needing the platinum to vote". I still say the game is a 7/10 because of nightmare difficulty and beating the Dollmaker boss without taking damage. Thank god the original game isn't required for platinum, its a bloody nightmare even on easy.
Angofwolf
Honestly I'd have to say if you pay the 2 dollars for the DLC costumes and weapons it makes Nightmare mode a joke. With the lucky but late alice costume you have health regen constanty, and the teapot gives you 150% teapot damage. Using just those two alone I find myself facerolling most enemies. That said if ya spend the two bucks the difficulty really drops down to more of a 3.

With the right dress/weapons equipped you can't die and do herculean damage.
Kheapathic
I'm marking it as an even 5. There's nothing too complicated that some experience and strategy won't fix. The longest part was finding all the collectibles.
QuantumMercury
Well now that I have the plat I am actually going to say 4-5 lol, the game was not really challenging and given the fact we were all playing it so close to release it is easy to overshoot the difficulty. Overall I would say 5.
Gmstr1
gave it a 4. its easy enough, and with the guide u can get the collectibles easily. and if u got the DLC, well then there is no challenge at all, even on nightmare.

If you have to use a guide to find the collectables doesn't that mean they are tough to find? xD
NatdoggVersion1
I got the dlc and with that its a 3, without the dlc id say its a 5, not too time consuming either you can clean up most of the collectibles without even using a guide.
PixelatedPat
Got the platinum. Gave it a 4. There's a glitch allowing you to skip completely nightmare, which would reduce the difficulty to probably a 2-3.Hardest part is getting all the collectibles. shindol
Gave it a 3. None of the trophies were too difficult. Some of the trophies took a couple of tries but nothing was frustrating. My vote is only based on the main game and not the DLC as I rented it.
Vo1cl
Gave it a 5. With the discovery of the glitch it took me all of 15 minutes to do a complete nightmare run. I would of given a much lower vote but Neighslayer is driving me mental
Tarqosis
4. Would have been a 3 if the physics in off with her head hadn't a frustration point.
Lethal-Hjorth
I voted 3 merely for the fact that the platinum can be simplified by following a collectible guide and doing the trophy difficulty glitch.
Mecha Buu
5/10. I got the platinum without that chapter shortcut. It was worth it to see how tough the enemies were in this difficulty. Neighslayer was a waste against slithers and bolterflies, but was obtainable against the Card Guards. The remaining collectibles were less difficulty with the guide from the sister site. As for the prequel, pretty straightforward. Get use to dealing with slow down when you're fighting enemies and having to save/load when you're in a tight spot. I know American McGee's Alice isn't included to platinum, but it's my post and I can say whatever the hell I want.
ElixirelDaath
Just got plat. It was very easy--about a 4 or less. I didn't use a guide until the end where I had 4 collectibles that I missed. New game+ makes nightmare a cakewalk. Plat difficulty boils down to just beating the game imo
Solid_Fantasy
I voted a 3 since the game is extremely glitchy in your favor
slickflipx
I just got my plat. I say a 3/4. New game+ and the dlc stuff made nightmare too easy
