Introduction:

Many centuries ago, on the planet Aries, there lived a boy named Alex Kidd. For seven years he lived on Mt. Eternal studying Shellcore, an ancient art that makes one strong enough to break rocks into pieces.

One day, as he was leaving the mountain for his spiritual homeland, he encountered a dying man who told him that the peaceful city of Radaxian was in grave danger. Before taking his last breath, the man gave Alex a piece of a map and a medallion made of Sun Stone.

What does it all mean? The only way to find out is to journey through the Miracle World looking for the answers.

Road Map:

It is important to note that almost every trophy in this game is missable and there is no stage select, so if you miss a trophy you'll have to play the whole game through to that point again. For this reason, it is recommended that you create a new save file at the start of each level.

Additionally, you have a limited number of lives in the game, and there are no checkpoints. If you die, you'll go back to the start of the game unless you do one of two things, either:

  1. Reload a save file. It is recommended you save often, brought up from the menu by pressing Select (:select:).
  2. At the game over screen, Hold Up () and press Circle (:circle:) eight times. This will display a CONTINUE option, as long as you have $400. You will then respawn with 3 lives.

Trophy Guide:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1549/16B.jpg Good Vibrations (B)

Freeze in fear from breaking a Skull Block.

This is an easy one. Just break a gold block that has a skull on it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1549/636.jpg Tears of Regret (B)

Run out of lives in Janken's dungeon with less than $400.

Simply die in Janken's dungeon, Stage 16. Make sure to save first! If you have more than $400, don't worry. You can die and use the continue cheat (see Roadmap) over and over until you no longer have $400. Once you die after this, you won't be able to use the continue cheat anymore and will obtain this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1549/3B3.jpg A Brush with Death (B)

Outrun a ghost!

This can be obtained in any level with ghosts, but is easy to do in Stage 1. Right at the start of the stage make sure to hit the gold block with the question mark on it. Dropping down, you'll see another one. Once you hit this a ghost will spawn. As soon as this happens, run down in to the next section before the ghost catches you, causing it to disappear.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1549/B49.jpg Octopus Sushi (B)

Defeat both giant octopi.

To defeat the octopi you have to destroy their tentacle. To do this, you need to hit the last ball of the tentacle to destroy it, while making sure you don't get hit by any of the other balls. I found it easiest to attack it straight on, slowly inching forward and spamming punch (:square:). Once you destroy all balls, the octopus will die. Repeat for the second octopus to obtain the trophy.

Note: Once you defeat the first octopus do not press down on the octopus's stand. You will enter a secret area, but will no longer have access to the second octopus.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1549/C76.jpg Fists of Stone (B)

Break 300 blocks with your fists.

Simply destroy any as many breakable blocks as you can. Once you hit 300 you will obtain the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1549/7B4.jpg Rockin' the Bike (B)

Ride through Stage 2 on the Sukopako Motorcycle.

You must ride through the whole level without dying in the ooze or falling off your bike by hitting a red block. Just jump over these hazards and once you hit the final wall you should obtain the trophy soon afterwards.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1549/3F2.jpg Petit-Copter (B)

Enjoy a sky cruise in the Petit-Copter.

Cannot be missed, will unlock on Stage 13 at the latest. The first point this can be obtained is at the end of Stage 4.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1549/F85.jpg Shameful (B)

Lose rock-paper-scissors even while using a Telepathy Ball.

The telepathy ball can be found in Stage 7 and is portrayed as a blue ball with a red star on it. You'll see it at a lower level, next to some lava. To get it, stand on the ledge to the top-left of it, and hold right. You'll drop down, but miss the lava. Then move further right and the wall next to the second patch of lava will disappear, revealing an exit.

You only need to lose one round of rock-paper-scissors while using the telepathy ball, not the entire game.

If you're having issues with the Janken matches, for this trophy or otherwise, the solutions can be found below (thanks to jimmylad):

[spoiler=jankenstuff]1) Rock, Scissors

2) Scissors, Paper

3) Rock, Scissors

4) Paper, Paper

5) Rock, Rock

6) Rock, Scissors

7) Paper, Paper

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1549/E54.jpg Copter Rider (B)

Have a snack on the Petit-Copter!

You must fly through the whole level, without dying or falling out of your Petit-Copter. Don't forget that you can shoot (:square:) with this vehicle. You can hit the red balls with the sides of your Copter, and even land, as long as you don't hit the rotors blades (on the top) on anything. Be sure to avoid the plants and water too.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1549/8BE.jpg Boat Cruise (S)

Clear Stage 9 while on the Suisui Boat.

Once again, get to the end of the level without dying or falling out of your boat. The boat can also shoot. As usual, avoid the red blocks.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1549/D1F.jpg Mission Complete (S)

Clear every stage.

Cannot be missed, will unlock once you complete the game (Stage 17).

If you're having trouble with unlocking the crown, the order to stand on the pink blocks is as follows:

[spoiler=finalcrownpuzzle]Sun, Waves, Moon, Star, Sun, Moon, Waves, Fish, Star, Fish

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1549/532.jpg Amazing Score (G)

Collect all the items and finish the game.

Every time you come to a shop be sure to purchase any items you don't have (that you have the money for). Additionally, there are some items you need to pick up along the way:

Stage 11 - You need to rescue your brother first. He is located in a room located to the top-right room of the castle. When you find him, punch the pink blocks from right to left (Star, Waves, Fish) in order to unlock the cage. From his room, come back the way you came, until you get to the room with the suspended platform and the spikes on the ground. Jump down the hole, then up the blocks to obtain the letter.

Stage 14 - Once you talk to the king, be sure to pick up the item to the left of him before you progress.

Stage 16 - Once you defeat Janken, be sure to pick up the item he drops.

Really great guide, nice work!

I'm curious why, as someone state in another thread, I didn't get Amazing Score.

I bought :

Bike

Copter

Flying Cane

A Ball

B Ball

? Pool

Extra Life

Power Bracer

and got the 3 "quests" items.

First time I didn't bought the bracer because I already had it from level 1.

Did you guys got the trophy after getting all the items in 1 playthrough?

Maybe I should do like the other guy and simply delete and reinstall the game.

(not like it's take long to download and doing it all over)

What do you guys think?

Thanks for the guide. I never bought the extra life at the last store. I think eithet A.) you only need the big 3 items or B.) You only need to have obtained one of each type of item.

I might go with B on that. I got all the 'big 3' items, but did not pick up the telepathy ball and did not get the trophy. I think I had all the items on the pause screen, other than the gap for the telepathy ball, unless there's an item between the cane and the circle/A (tough to tell - could be space for another icon).

Thanks for the guide, Coop. I need a little clarification on Amazing Score, though. Do I need to finish the game with one of everything in my inventory or do I only need to have had them in my inventory at some point in the game?

I'm playing the JP version and while goofing around in the menus I selected a ring or bracelet and it took it out of my inventory. I reloaded a save so I still have it, but would I have been okay without it?

EDIT: I didn't chance it. I just bought everything at every store, including duplicates, and didn't use any of the items for the entire game.

Sorry I wasn't around to respond to you earlier, but to anyone wondering for future reference you do not need all the items in your inventory at the same time. You just need to have had them at one time during your playthrough.

lol I kind of thought that would be the case. That would have made the last castle so much easier. I didn't want to use the cane to fly up to the ladder so I took the long way through the water with the spikes. So glad for the save state, never would have made it through that room without it.

Thanks for the guide, help me know where to and when to get certain trophies. Some stages and trophies I had to resort to a video guide. Stage 16 was a bitch because you needed that item that allowed you to float in the air and the white item that allowed you to walk through those fire monsters.

It's a good thing you can save a huge number of different times. I had like 20+ different save files. maybe took 6 hours of gameplay time to finish despite the fails.

Cheers for this, was super helpful!

For all those that want this is my menu screen before Chapter 17 where you use 2 items, and get the crown for the ending :). I got the trophy 'Awesome Score' and I did not buy any of the extra lives, just the items.

Also this is a good video if you are confused about how to get the Octopus Sushi trophy!

Maybe you could add this to the guide Coop?

Although by following the steps it was a nice easy 100%, so thanks for writing it :D.
