Introduction:

Air Conflicts: Secret Wars is an Arcade Flight Simulator that focuses on the less known (secret) events of WWI and WWII. You fly as DeeDee Derbec and follow her struggle to survive events taking place from 1941-1945 at locations ranging from Tobruk, Yugoslavia, Slovakia, France, and Germany. The game features both Move and Dualshock 3 controls, 16 flyable aircraft, and 49 single player missions across 7 different campaigns, as well as LAN and Online Multiplayer.

Walkthrough:

Step 1 – Single player campaign: While the game can be played using Move Motion and Navigation controllers (only Move Motion is required to play this using Move), I would highly recommend using a Dualshock 3 simply due to how difficult it is to control aircraft using Move. The basic controls for both Arcade and Simulation style of the Move and Wireless Controllers can be seen while a single player mission is loading, or by pressing :start: then pressing :triangle: (help). The single player campaign consists of 49 missions broken up into 7 different campaigns, and will take no less than 5 hours to run through. Regardless of your skill in flying games, you can play through all 49 missions on the easiest difficulty (Rookie). To change the difficulty, simply choose a mission and a screen allowing you to choose the game difficulty and control scheme will appear. Basic tips for playing through the campaign:

  • When choosing your aircraft, always pick between the “recommended” aircraft as they are the best aircraft for the mission.
  • When you see “Stall Warning” in red text, that means if you continue to slow down your plane will stall. To prevent this, just speed up.
  • If you crash, you can start from the last checkpoint by pressing :cross:.
  • As you progress through the single player campaign, you are given chances to upgrade various attributes such as Agility, Luck, Endurance, and Leadership. To make things easier, I would first focus on either Luck or Endurance, then Leadership while saving Agility for last. By the last mission, you will have them all maxed out.

This step will unlock the following trophies in the order listed:

  • (S) Siege of Tobruk
  • (S) Fall Blau
  • (B) Fighter Ace
  • (S) Operation Black
  • (B) Bomber Ace
  • (S) Operation Belt
  • (S) Operation Overlord
  • (S) Slovak Uprising
  • (S) Bird Collector
  • (S) Liberation of Balkans
  • (G) All Missions

Step 2 – Single Player Cleanup: It is possible to play through the single player campaign without unlocking Lucky Shot. When you complete the campaign you can’t start another, but from the main menu you can choose replay mission and pick your desired mission/plane. Just follow the strategy located under the Lucky Shot trophy.

Step 3 – Multiplayer: Note: All online trophies can be boosted. You can find a boosting partner(s) in this thread. There are a grand total of 12 multiplayer trophies, two of which will require five other players (6 total). Air Conflicts Online is peer to peer based, and someone has to manually host a game for others to play (which they choose to join from the server browser). Because of this if the host disconnects or leaves, the lobby is closed - I would suggest hosting your own games if you need a specific trophy to avoid much grief. The order in which you earn these trophies is entirely up to you, but Tally Ho! will most likely unlock last. I personally suggest going for Good Show and Cracking Good Show first, then focusing on team-specific trophies. This step will unlock the following trophies:

  • (B) Good Show
  • (S) Cracking Good Show
  • (G) Ace-of-Aces
  • (G) Tally Ho!
  • (S) Blue Max
  • (G) Red Baron
  • (S) RAF Officer
  • (S) Red Air Force Officer
  • (S) Luftwaffe Officer
  • (S) Great War Officer
  • (H)(B) Bullseye
  • (H)(S) Rocket Sniper

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/599.jpg Bird Collector (S)

Unlock all planes in single player campaign

Story related; cannot be missed - You unlock planes by playing through the campaign. Every action, such as completing a mission objective or destroying enemies rewards you with stars. Some planes require a certain number of stars to unlock, while others seemingly unlock after completing specific missions. I unlocked this trophy after completing Transport SOE Officer from the Liberation of Balkans single player campaign.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/922.jpg Fighter Ace (B)

Shoot down 100 aircraft in Campaign Game

Story Related; this trophy cannot be missed – You will unlock this trophy by naturally playing through the single player campaign since a majority of missions require you to shoot down aircraft. I unlocked this trophy during the mission Defend Bridge from the Operation Black single player campaign.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/085.jpg Bomber Ace (B)

Destroy 100 ground units in Campaign Game

Story related; this trophy cannot be missed – You will unlock this trophy by naturally playing through the single player campaign since many of the missions require you to destroy ground units. While the title of this trophy is Bomber Ace, it only requires you to destroy ground units. So if you have difficulty using bombs, using rockets or machine guns will still count towards the 100. I unlocked this trophy during the mission Bomber Support from the Operation Belt single player campaign.

Online Trophies:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/F96.jpg Good Show (B)

Place in top half in Deathmatch with at least 6 players

See Cracking Good Show.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/FC9.jpg Cracking Good Show (S)

Place first in Deathmatch with at least 6 players

As the description suggests, place first in a multiplayer game of Deathmatch against at least 5 other players. Suggested method: Host a game of Deathmatch and set the player number to 8, with a time limit of 5 minutes. The map doesn't matter, but pick a plane you feel comfortable with - I'd recommend one which has 4 rockets. After that, simply win the match with at least 6 players total in the game. Players do not have to be there at the start for it to count, but do need to be there when the match ends. Depending on the time of day, the room may take a while to completely fill so don't get discouraged after a few matches. This method can be used to unlock Good Show, but you must not place higher than 2nd to get it to unlock. For some odd reason, placing 1st will not unlock the trophy even if you already have Cracking Good Show, so these two trophies must be earned separately.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/569.jpg Ace-of-Aces (G)

Kill 100 players in multiplayer

This trophy will unlock after shooting down your 100th player in multiplayer. Your multiplayer kills are cumulative and can be done in any game mode. Suggested method: host a game of either Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch. Settings are entirely up to you, but I recommend a time limit of 5 minutes as people tend to leave games with anything longer or requiring a high amount of kills. Another way to get 100 kills is to use the suggested boosting method for getting Red Baron and Blue Max. Since kills don't count towards the score in Capture the Flag, if you set a score limit instead of a time limit, you can get all 100 kills in 1 match.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/A0D.jpg Tally Ho! (G)

Play 50 multiplayer matches

This trophy will unlock after completing your 50th multiplayer match. The game counts a match if you are in the lobby at the end - leaving/disconnecting before the match ends, or a host closing the session do not count towards the trophy so creating your own matches is recommended. Since matches are cumulative and this trophy can be earned in any or multiple game modes, going for the various team specific trophies will knock out a majority of the requirements for this trophy. Note: There has to be at least one player on each team, or two players if it is free for all for a match to count towards the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/B3C.jpg Blue Max (S)

Kill 5 players in multiplayer without dying

See Red Baron.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/FAF.jpg Red Baron (G)

Kill 10 players in multiplayer without dying

As the trophy description suggests, you must shoot down 10 players in a single multiplayer match without dying. This trophy can be done in any game type, so playing in one without a kill/time limit is recommended. Suggested method: Host a game, and set the type to Capture the Flag, teams to Great War and set a score limit. I'd recommend doing this in conjunction with Great War. While the WWI planes in the Great War teams are slow, they are also easy to shoot down so kills should come on a 'whoever shoots first' basis. If you shoot an enemy down near their base, they tend to respawn in one location which makes killing them again easier. Using this method will also unlock Blue Max.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/741.jpg RAF Officer (S)

Win 5 multiplayer matches with RAF team

Simply win 5 matches flying planes with the RAF symbol (symbol in the trophy image) next to them. This cannot be done in free for all modes such as Deathmatch, and must be done in team modes such as Capture the Flag. Suggested method: Host a game, and set the type to Capture the Flag. Set a score limit of 3, and the teams to RAF vs Luftwafe or Russians vs RAF. While the map doesn't matter, Berlin has both sides fairly close to each other. When choosing a plane, make sure to pick a plane with the RAF symbol next to it and proceed to capture the flag 3 times. Repeat this 4 more times for a total of 5 wins. Note: There has to be at least one player on each team for a win to count towards the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/F2F.jpg Red Air Force Officer (S)

Win 5 multiplayer matches with Red Air Force team

Same strategy as RAF Officer, except make sure to choose a Russian plane that has the Red Air Force symbol next to it (the symbol in the trophy image).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/060.jpg Luftwaffe Officer (S)

Win 5 multiplayer matches with Luftwaffe team

Same strategy as RAF Officer, except make sure to choose a German plane that has the Luftwaffe symbol next to it (the symbol in the trophy image).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/DF2.jpg Great War Officer (S)

Win 5 multiplayer matches with any Great War Team

Same strategy as RAF Officer, except you need to set the battle sides to Great War – picking a plane from either side counts towards the trophy. Going for Blue Max and Red Baron while working towards this trophy is highly recommended.

Secret Trophies:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/515.jpg Bullseye (H)(B)

Perform long range Rocket Kill in Multiplayer

See Rocket Sniper.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/356.jpg Rocket Sniper (H)(S)

Perform extra long range Rocket Kill in Multiplayer

As the trophy image indicates, you have to shoot down an enemy aircraft in Multiplayer using rockets from at least 120 meters away. To fire off rockets using the wireless controller and the simulator configuration, press :circle: with rockets selected (to select rockets, press :l1:). If you take notice of the kill feed, it shows different rocket kills i.e. "Rocket Kill," "Long Range Rocket Kill," and "Extra Long Range Rocket Kill." Rockets can be tricky to aim because they fire from either your left or right wing, so aiming dead center on a plane doesn't mean the rocket will hit that plane dead center. Suggested strategy: Host a game of Deathmatch and choose the Bisnovat-1 Jet Fighter (it carries 4 rockets). Fly around and try to find an enemy heading your way - if you're lucky, he/she will start flying straight at you. Once both of you get closer, aim at the plane and fire your rockets. Repeat this until you shoot it down. I personally got this and Bullseye in a single game of Deathmatch. This strategy can also be used to unlock Bullseye. Note: Unlocking this trophy does NOT unlock Bullseye and both trophies MUST be done in separate kills.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1112/5C2.jpg Lucky Shot (H)(G)

Shot down enemy aircraft with a rocket at great range in single player

As the trophy image indicates, you have to shoot down an enemy aircraft using rockets from at least 240 meters away. This can be done in any mission using a plane that has rockets. To fire off rockets using the wireless controller and the simulator configuration, press :circle: with rockets selected (to select rockets, press :l1:). I suggest a mission where you face incoming planes head on (such as Deception or Defend The Republic), and using a plane with multiple rockets. I personally got this trophy during the mission Deception from the Operation Black single player campaign against the third wave of bombers using a Lavochkin 5. Strategy: After letting one plane escape you reach a checkpoint. Immediately after reaching that checkpoint, a wave of bombers will appear, with three waves in total. Just line up the aiming reticule and fire both rockets. If by the 3rd wave you haven’t hit anything, just crash your plane and restart from the checkpoint – repeat this until you get the trophy.

I think this guide is finally 100% complete! I now have the platinum, so everything listed should be the fastest/best way to obtain each trophy. For reference, however, I personally used a second PS3 to gain all but Good Show & Cracking Good Show, which I did against randoms. Cheers, and feel free to point out any mistakes/better methods for trophies :D

Thanks for the guide man... saved me some time on self boosting the 5 wins with each squadron...

Glad it was useful! Yeah, I was scratching my head for a bit trying to figure out how the best way to do it. Certainly faster than attempting it in a dead online, but still time consuming.

How do you self boost?

I tried starting a multiplayer LAN session but I never saw an opportunity to join in with a second controller.

It's only one player in the session and I don't see any way to add more.

Am I missing something or do you actually need two consoles connected in LAN to use this?

I've only got the game on rental and have not seen a single multiplayer sessions in the internet filter yet, seems pretty dead.

You are correct, you need a second console to self boost. Yeah, when I played the game it was pretty dead...at this point you probably need to get other people who are trying to boost the game to group up.

Thanks for the reply.

I send the game back, would take to much time to find people and set something up, rather just swap it for another game.

I did enjoy the campaign though, missions are very short but I liked it anyway.

Thanks for all the multiplayer boosting tips! Online is dead as hell! Did a search tonight and found 1 guys playing lol.

Yeah...quite frustrating isn't it? Such a shame really. I'd like to think the sequel (available on PS Store) has more people online, but somehow I doubt it

Interesting, this game looks more challenging than the other two. I'm probably going to get this :)

It isn't. Like the others, it's tough to get 6 players for the necessary trophies. You do have to net 100 online kills instead of 30 or 50, but it still goes pretty fast and only requires one partner. The campaign isn't hard at all.

If you found the others easy, this one is pretty much equivalent.

Thanks for the help with the double plat. Funny that 4 years later it finally gets done.

Hi i used the skip mission :triangle: thinghy on Paratrooper mission :whiteflag:

It gave me chapter trophy but do you know i will prevent my complete all mission trophy? Thanks in advance.

Edit : Completed the mission via chapter select and took me ~5 minutes. You can destroy planes that drops paratroopers to hold them in check i managed to get %20 rating before the second wave.Just leave 1 plane alive and destroy it if you're sure you'll get min %12 rating or else you'll get mission failed.
