Introduction:

Air Conflicts: Pacific Carriers takes place during WW2 with the US and Japan. The single player campaigns consists of 4 campaigns with 2 for each side, each with their own stories and missions and you can choose which campaign you want to do first. I went with the US first because I am familiar with their planes and equipment, plus all of the single player trophies were obtainable in that campaign except for the Japanese Campaign trophy. The USA missions take place on the U.S.S Enterprise carrier and the Japanese missions takes place on two IJN carriers, both campaigns have several assignments which are:

  • Battle (Mandatory)
  • Watch Tower (optional)
  • Patrol (optional)
  • Missions (optional)

Other Main screen missions are: Dogfight and Survival Modes, Training mission and Online. See here for additional tips: CLICKY

Step 1: Playthrough the campaigns

Play through both story campaigns on rookie and will obtain the following trophies: Japanese Campaign and American Campaign. You should also receive the following trophies if you start out with the American campaign: Destroyer Destroyer, Carrier Killer, Torpedo Master, Torpedo Wizard (missable), Mind the Water, Aces High, Ship Sinker, and Ace. Note: You can skip Watch Tower and still advance in the campaign.

Step 2: Mopping up

Any trophies you might have missed during the two story campaigns could be obtained in mission select. Go to the main screen and select replay missions.

Step 3: Online trophies

The Online can be done via LAN or PSN with up to 7 other people in 4 Modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Carrier Battle (Destroy and Protect). We did capture the flag and set the wins for 3 (this is the quickest way to win) I personally recommend boosting the online because this is one of those speciality genre games in which few people are playing so you may or may not find matches all the time. The boosting thread could be found here: CLICKY

Trophy Guide:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/4A0.jpg Platinum (P)

Awarded for successfully collecting all trophies from Air Conflicts: Pacific Carriers

This will unlock when all the other trophies are unlocked. Congratulations on your new Plat!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/4A9.jpg Japanese Campaign (G)

Complete both IJN Campaigns

There are 2 IJN (Japanese) campaigns, each with 5 major missions. Once you have completed both IJN campaigns, the trophy will unlock.

GLITCH

There is a glitch in the EU version of game in the "Bombing of Darwin Mission. Thanks to robg69 and others, this glitch is easily fixed:

This mission (Bombing of the Darwin) in the first round of Japanese missions where you have to destroy the Australian Airbase. After you destroy all the targets, you are stuck and the game doesn't progress. What I had to do was fly to another base (roughly Northwest of the main airbase) and bomb several hangars there until the missions would advance. I must have restarted that 2-3 times thinking it was glitched .

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/9EF.jpg American Campaign (G)

Complete both USN Campaigns

There are 2 USN campaigns, each with 5 major missions. Once you have completed both USN campaigns, the trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/13A.jpg Destroyer Destroyer (S)

Sink 5 destroyers in campaign game mode

Destroyers are smaller than cruisers but larger than a submarine. This trophy will unlock naturally as you progress in the USN campaign. Sink 5 destroyers and this trophy will be yours.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/4BD.jpg Carrier Killer (S)

Sink a carrier in campaign game mode

The aircraft carrier is the largest ship in the fleet and it will take a lot of damage to sink one. If you start off with the USA then you will get this story related opportunity early in the campaign. Torpedoes are very effective so choose the last squadron of planes when starting the mission.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/AE6.jpg Torpedo Master (S)

Hit a moving ship with a torpedo

You do not have to sink a ship with torpedo, just hit it. As you approach the ship with your plane fly low, slow and level till the red plane marker (underneath your plane in third person view) turns white then release the torpedo.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/0EC.jpg Torpedo Wizard (G)

Hit a manoeuvring ship with a torpedo

Missable

People are stating that this trophy is a missable, I have not experienced this personally. Your best opportunity to do this is during the U.S. mission "Dangerous Cruisers" where you have to find and attack 5 Japanese cruisers. All I did was torpedo the leading Cruiser of the fleet as it was turning and the trophy unlocked. You do not have to sink it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/18A.jpg Mind the Water (S)

Successfully land on carrier at mission's end

You will have an opportunity at the end of most missions to select :cross: and attempt to land on the aircraft carrier. Tip: I got this on the training mission. I recommend using that mission so if you crash, you do not have to restart a story related mission.

To land your plane:

  1. Hit :select: to drop the landing gear.
  2. Slow your plane down with throttle.
  3. Have the plane lined up and approach the back of the moving aircraft carrier. The plane should be slightly above the aircraft carrier.
  4. Ease up on the throttle some more while over the deck of the aircraft carrier.
  5. Slow down even more until you touched the deck of the aircraft carrier.
  6. Slow down till you shut off the plane's engines. Note: If you feel like your going too fast or going to crash, raise your throttle and attempt steps 1-6 again.

Tips:

  1. Try to organise your pilots in each of the 3 squadrons from highest to lowest experienced, this way you start off with the the highest experienced pilot first. This will help you get the Aces High trophy out of the way.
  2. Select the right squadrons for the right missions. Example Squadron Charlie has planes with torpedoes which could make taking out a carrier or battleship a hell of a lot easier.
  3. Make sure to lead your enemies in dogfights (aiming ahead). It helps a lot.
  4. Your torpedo does more damage when you are slow, low and level to the water. When it turns white make sure to lead the enemy ship and release the torpedo!

Here is a breakdown of WW2 Japanese warships, from upper left to lower right: Destroyers, Aircraft carrier, battleship, cruisers and submarine. Image thanks to http://www.tamiya.com/english/waterline/

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/924.jpg Aces High (G)

Reach maximum experience (255) with any pilot.

You need to get at least one pilot (in any squadron) ranked up to over 255 experience. The quickest way to start this is after the first mission. The game will take you to your aircraft's screen. If you select the square button you will have an opportunity to rearrange each of your 3 squadron's pilot's by highest ranked experience. By doing this, you will have the first opportunity to gain more experience with your highest ranked pilot starting off first in the next mission. Rinse and repeat till you get that pilot ranked up just passed 255 xp and the trophy will pop. Note: If your highest ranked pilot dies, you will not rank up so restart the mission or checkpoint.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/5F0.jpg Ship Sinker (S)

Sink 20 ships in campaign mode

This is story related and will come naturally towards the end of USN campaign. All ships count towards this providing you sink them.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/D5D.jpg Ace (S)

Shoot down 100 enemy planes in campaign mode

This will come naturally. When there are dogfight missions you will have every opportunity to get anywhere from 10 to 15 kills. There are 20 missions so it shouldn't be a problem. If you start with the USN campaign, then you will get this trophy in the middle of it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/0C5.jpg Multiplayer Ace (G)

Perform 3 kills in row in MP

Just get 3 kills in a row in an online match. You could boost this one with a friend in a 1v1 match or you could do it at the same time as Good Show and Cracking Good Show.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/BA4.jpg Good Show (S)

Place in top half in multiplayer match with at least 6 players

You must do this with at least 6 people in the room. Just be in the top half of the score board, for example: If you come in third place you will be in the top half. If you boost and choose to get 3 or more kills in a row, you'll get Multiplayer Ace as well.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/88A.jpg Cracking Good Show (G)

Place first in multiplayer match with at least 6 players

Just come in first place with 6 or more people in your match. You will get this at the same time as Good Show.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/AE4.jpg Multiplayer Veteran (G)

Play 15 multiplayer matches to the end

Just play any 15 MP matches and the trophy will unlock. You do not have to win.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/86C.jpg USN officer (G)

Win 5 multiplayer matches with USN team

This must be a team match and can be Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag or Carrier Battle. Put yourself on the USN team and win 5 matches. You can be on same team with friend and get wins at same time. Set short times to get this done quickly. This is a boostable trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1736/B19.jpg IJN officer (G)

Win 5 multiplayer matches with IJN team

This must be a team match and can be Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag or Carrier Battle. Put yourself on the IJN team and win 5 matches. You can be on same team with friend and get wins at same time. Set short times to get this done quickly. This is a boostable trophy.

-Torpedo Wizard is missable not story related.

-You should explain the glitch of one ijn campaign missions.

-You dont need 8 people to boost this but 6

-For 5 mp wins it should be noted that you can be on same team with friend and get wins at same time.

-For Mind the Water you should explain how to trigger landing gear (at least half of the players have no idea how to do this)

-Online trophies should not be in roadmaps missable section.

-Mini missions are not optional, you sometimes need to do them to progress on story.

Did not have a problem with Torpedo Wizard nor did my friend who played the US region game

I wasn't aware or this problem. I think I understand what you are talking about(The bombing of Rawin)? You have to go and investigate the area marked on the map and find rest of the Australian troops? I just flew there and circled around till I found them on either side of the icon and then the story progressed. Note* My game was patched before I played it

Wow I wouldn't think Torpedo Wizard is missable. There are like 20 missions with TONS of objectives. Personally I got it on the last US mission trying to sink the Akagi, if memory serves.

LOL, Yea I see a lot of people not knowing how to do the landing gear, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to mention it. I suppose people are lazy and don't want to read the manual, or didn't play the first one, or didn't play the tutorial. For those reading this, press "select" to lower/raise landing gear if the plane allows.:)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/air-conflicts-pacific-carriers/199641-ijn-campaign-bombing-darwin-mission-glitched.html

There is not many manoeuvring ships in either campaign and i know people who missed it on both

As far as mini missions, I have been skipping them on my Japanese playthrough. You should be fine skipping them as long as you can advance the chapter.

Torpedo wizard is missable IMO, but you really have to try to miss it. There are lots of chances as you pointed out.

I did not experience a glitch with bombing of Darwin (US version of the game).

I agree with mini missions although you 'may' have to do one or two to unlock a main battle.

Yea I forgot that there isn't level select either (at least I don't think there is). I haven't finished the campaign yet...I had to take a break!

Darwin:

Oh really? Interesting. I guess I should have mentioned that I was playing the UK/EU version, so maybe they fixed it in the US Version? :applause:

Can anybody help me, I'm on the first Watch Tower (optional), after the first usa mission, and I can't for the life of me, figure out what they want me to spot with the binoculars. I see the birds flying in the sky, I hear plane engines, I see a plane, report it, fails, thus it must be our plane?, what the hell am I looking for?

I've done this mission about 30 times, and can never find anything to report, should I be checking the sky? clouds?, the horizon for boats/subs? a sub para-scope surfacing? The binoculars don't seem to zoom, so I can only see so far.

Advance chapter in the second do all the primary and the optional play the mission now and you can spot a plane squat attacking in your Ship

Figured it out, its a set of at least 2 planes, you gotta spot, but have had some bad luck, to not see them so many times.

After giving it a bit thought I think I'll just pass on that1. Geting a group of 6 to boost is kinda hard, even with MUCH more popular games.

I miss good plane fighting games, since Ace Combat on PS2 & Birds of Steel on PS3 there was literally nothing decent out there.

Apache: Air Assault is great game if you dont mind playing ps3 game and helicopter sim, it only needs one friend for coop missions, unless you are god like and can solo them.

What a bummer... I was hoping I could self boost this with an one more PS4. Apparently not. Been having a love and hate relationship with the Double Pack on the PSN store's cart every time it goes on sale. At £6.49 and a double platinum, it does sound attractive... But again 6 players is definite no for me. Shame....
